I seen this like a month ago on lsxtv's webpage about a month ago, and the lt1 name has nothing really corresponding it with the 1st lt1 from the 70 motor nor the cast iron block that was in the early 4th gen cars. They went threw a whole spill how they name the blocks and what not it should still be on there website how they named it!!
EDIT: I know my grammar is f'd up overlook it lol!!

wonder why it's so hard for the ford and dodge fans to just admit that GM bitch slaps everyone around when it comes time to develop new engines? Ford will just throw a supercharger on their current POS to keep up and dodge will come out with the all new 60 year old max wedge.

Only problem is Ford used the DOHC 4.6L and combined the 5.0L from the past cause people was bitching about it. They combined the two to satisfy there needs for trying to create something new and improved cause they cannot think outside of the box. It seems Ford has problems creating power without some kind of forced induction, which creates this huge madness with Ford enthusiast. It took them a 5.4L with a roots style supercharger to break 500 horsepower when Chevy was doing that with an under tuned naturally aspirated 427 lol!! But none the less it's all eye for an eye talk now haha!!

It's funny that they were only like an extra couple hundred dollars for that option, and now it's so collectable.

Speaking of Hemi's....When I was picking up my heads from my machine shop the guy in front of me was getting pricing on getting basically the same work I had done on his hemi head. He about shit a brick when he got the price min $350-$500 plus parts if needed. He asked why - the machinist told him that anything that has "hemi" on it is expensive, more so over Corvettes. He told 'em "those Hemi's require much more work then a standard cylinder heads and there is little to no aftermarket for Chrysler products"

Hopefully these newer motors will drop the prices on the LSx series soon.
I would like to have some version of an LS3, at this point even a stock LS3 would be fine,
my poor LS1 is getting tired I fear.
By the time I get the funding, I'm sure prices will at least come down some.

You do realize the 5.0 has nothing in common with the old 4.6's right? It is in fact a completely new design, it would be like calling the ls1 and lt1 the same because they both use 2v heads and a cam in the block. Also the 5.0 hasnt had any problems creating power, it dynos the same as a stock ls3 and makes about the same power with bolt ons. I'm not a huge ford fan but they deserve credit for that engine, the old 4.6's did suck but the 5.0 is a new animal.
With that corrected, I will say the new lt1 looks promising and is going to hurt some feelings. However gm has stated they are using a dual encoded pcm to lock the engine so it cant be tuned. In the pcm there are 2 encryption keys, one is required to open the pcm to view all the tables, this is common knowledge to the dealer, to make any changes to the table however requires a special GM hq code to unlock the tune settings.Gm has stated its for safety...(bs) This is going to take a good long while to be cracked, hopefully it can.
