My 21 month old daughter gets one every 2 months.

Fever, could hurt to piss, light pain in the low back near where they are.

Like Orion said, it's probably a stone but the only way to be sure is to get a CT scan...xrays don't always pick them up. I've had countless stones and the pain usually starts in the lower back on either side. If it's a stone of any decent size you're in for a world of pain brother.

my brother in law gets stones on a regular basis. If he saved them he could put in a cobble stone walkway up to his house in a year.

She has a semi-permanent foley draining her left kidney.

That's where my pain started also when I had a kidney stone. Just sharp pains about 4-5 inches above the waste near the back but close to the side...

I also had blood in my urine. I really didn't know wtf was going on until it moved. My god I have never known pain that bad.

Good luck and I hope it is just a muscle...

Cut the soda, drink cranberry juice.

The 100% JUICE from Northland or Ocean Spray, not the fake 10% crapt.

If you get better in 3 days, it was a kidney infection.

Last time I checked cranberry juice had questionable bacteriostatic properties and no bacteriocidal( killing bacteria) properties; but, what do I know, I'm just some guy that likes to play doctor on the internet for the hot chicks.

I think you are getting kidney infection and bladder infection confused .. bladder infection is not serious .. it burns a little when you pee and feels like you have to pee all the time ... kidney infection is something you better go to doc for ...
