Just made a families day by returning their dog to them...
I have 2 labs so I know the feeling of having a pet and the attachment you can have to them. Last night a little dog came wandering down the road so I walked over and he didn't run so I grabbed him. No name tag only a rabies tag. So we fed him and caged him overnight till we could call the Vet this morning to identify him by his rabies tag #. I got the address 30 mins ago and he ended being from about 1/4 mile away. The owners were luckily home, albeit a bit confused when this loud ass TA pulled into their driveway out of nowhere , but when I got out and the puppy jumped out behind me they freaked out a bit and starting yelling his name for him to come out of relief. Handshakes all around and blah blah blah after that but it kinda made my day to see the looks on their faces. Their daughter who is apparently real young should be happy when she gets home from school today, they said she was terribly upset last night.

To turn this around i was walking down the street to my buddies house the day before christmas and i see this dog just wondering around.
Well i see the owner come out and call for it and he starts to make his way across the street...big dodge hit that sucker. His owner was this little lady just screaming the whole time. He died by the time i dragged him to the curb. What a shitty christmas she must have had.

My life is a- Ben Stiller movie.
one time, some little kid went running from his parents in a mall. he popped under a railing and made a good 30 foot dash b4 they could hop over and start after him. I snagged him up and handed him back with a smile...appearantly i was in the wrong b/c they totally scoffed at me for helping keep their kid off the escalator

9 out of 10 people would've just let that dog keep going. I applaud you for stepping up and doing something nice for someone. Rare thing these days. I try to do stuff like that whenever I can. Sometimes it works out good and sometimes I wonder why I even bothered. Couple of things I've done in the last 2 years.
Work was getting rid of a Maytag washer/dryer set. They had whoever was interested put their names in a hat. At first there were only like 3 of us but I had all my buddies put their names in ( about 10 more people) and whoever won was to let me have them. One of my buds won and I took them home. I set them up in the garage and tested them and had to fix the lid switch on the washer. After I was sure they were running right I went to a local laundry mat a week before x-mas and found a single mom with a couple of kids doing laundry and gave them to her. She was excited and I felt good about it.
I was in line at a grocery store and a lady in front of me had a kid and was buying just the normal stuff you'd buy. I could tell they were poor and I hate to make it look like I was looking down on them or anything because I grew up poor but you know how you can tell when someone just don't have much money. Well, they didn't. I had just gotten my bonus check at work so I bought her groceries for her. At first she was embarrassed and I kinda felt bad because it felt like I was showing pity on her but it wasn't like that. I just wanted to do something nice for them. She finally accepted and thanked me profusely. That was a good feeling.
A truck at work left a pallet of dog food on the dock for us to split up (Kibbles and Bits). I had people that didn't have dogs take their share and give it to me. Even though I have 2 dogs of my own it went to the pound ( 280 lbs). The guy at the pound acted like it was an inconvenience to him and then the ass never said thank you or anything. Didn't feel so good about it.
I think it's a crap shoot as to whether people will appreciate the things you do for them but I also feel you have to keep doing them because at some point you'll make someones day.

04 GTO QuickSilver- 95 MarkVIII wifey white
A job well done Hurly711. Did they inquire about your car or just Thank you to death? My wife is an exotic bird lover and her favorite one (mick) Decided to check out the hood. The lady down the road told us that he was in one of her trees. To shorten the story, there were @ 10 people trying to talk this $3,000 cockatoo down from the tree. One guy made an extension pole for mick to get onto but this bird just did'nt want to be saved. The next day, he was gone.
The wife and I just hope that someone has him to take care of. Took that bird brain 5 years to want to leave.
P.S. His wings were clipped frequently (to not be able to sustain flight) but he was a big bird and he was determined.
Don,t anybody cry,She ended up giving the other two away anyhow.
