Jad628 & other law enforcement in here please!!!!!
I've got a couple questions about the written enterence exam(s) for local law enforcment. I'm planning on testing in the upcoming weeks and trying to prep myself for it, if there is anything I can even do. How hard are these exams and what subjects do they cover? Is alot of it the traditional math and vocabulary as well as common sence judgement questions; or is it more in depth than that? Any feedback is appriciated thanks!!!!!

I'm not a cop but there seems to be many resources available for the exams, according to a quick google search. Amazon has quite a few books on it.

I'm assuming they are all similar, but please remember mine was about 22 years ago. It is mostly basic grammatical skills and the math (as I recall) did include some basic geometry and such. Specifically, there was one section of composition that was really a pain. You were given a set of words that you had to make a sentence out of, using all of them with no exclusions. Basically, the words make little or no sense no matter how you arrange them, but the goal is to make it as "logical" as possible. I just stressed proper use of noun, adjective, and verb for the most part. I really think that the test is structured to test your PATIENCE and COMMITMENT.
Keep that in mind.
My best advice is be honest and try to relax while maintaining your concentration. Do that through the entire process. Here you have to pass a physical test and the written test first. Then the real fun begins! Just wait 'til you have the pyschological tests and talk with a shrink. That's fun.
Good luck man!

I've taken a few...most are a lot of spelling, reading comprehension, sentence structure and the proper meaning of words in a sentence. The one for the CHP didn't have any math at all...weirdly enough.
