Bright Red- 1999 Trans Am Ws6
It's a sad day for me =(
Got the call from the mechanic. My transmission did indeed have something give out and just went everywhere inside. TOB due to be replaced anyways, clutch/flywheel also. And junkyard searches have yielded no results anywhere close to me for a t56 out of a f-body.
Long story short, new transmission. New Clutch. New Flywheel. New TOB. Labor costs.
4200 bucks.
I can't believe it, but I am considering getting a new car instead. It's like they say though, the first cut is the deepest. Everytime I think about getting rid of it, it hurts =(
How did you guys deal with getting rid of your first car? I feel dead inside.

I'm really sorry man.
I would do whatever it takes to fix a car that means so much to me. If you get rid of it, you'll regret it. I withhold that we adopt these cars as representatives of ourselves and our personalities.
Build it back, better and stronger.

2002 Z28 A4 NBM- Sadly now demodded :(
I wasn't very attached to my 1st car. I know what you mean though as there have been a few that I've owned through the years that I didn't want to part with but economic situations or way too much $$$ being waved under your nose has a way of changing your mind.
You gonna fix it, sell it or bone it? Not many other options.

Sucks man, went through the exact same situation with my truck, which is also my first vehicle and it means a lot to me. Long story short, motor spun a rod bearing a little while ago, I was going to get a cheap beater or something but decided to get an LQ9 swapped in. It's awesome and was a great decision in my opinion.
I think you should just go ahead and get your Trans Am fixed. You'll never have another one like it, and once you get rid of it, it's going to suck pretty bad riding around in some ugly ass beater. Everytime you see another Trans Am pass by, it's just going to kill you, trust me. Get your ride fixed man

The transmission my mechanic wants to drop in is one from Jasper. For my car, a t56 off a cobra, corvette, or lt1 trans am won't work. Basically, I have to find a low mile 1998-2002 ls1 f-body that was destroyed without damaging tranny, and had a manual transmission. Not easy!! I found ONE and it had 90,000 miles on it, and they wanted fucking 2500 bucks. Jasper at least has a 100,000 mile warranty.
And turbo400? I'd rather send it to the junkyard than put that in it.

I gotta call tomorrow and tell them what I want to do. Going to be a long night with this over my head. I haven't decided, and don't think I will be able to till the minute before I call.
