IROC Camaro on Sopranos
Since the season is kicking off tonight, I have been watching all the old ones in order to catch up and refresh my memory on the storey... and I noticed that Tony's driver has a blue/purple 4th gen Camaro that says IROC on the side. Did they really make a 4th Gen IROC? I though the last of those was 3rd gen. Anyone have a link on the specs? What was different?

Why the hell would they put an IROC decal on a 4th gen? Who's retarded idea was that?

The IROC name was sold over to Chrysler when it disappeared from the Camaro. The last one was 3rd gen Camaro, after that it started showing up on the Dodge Daytona.
I haven't seen the car on the Sapranos. It sounds kinda cool, but it sounds like they might have ruined it with a decal that didn't belong. People never expect anyone else to know about that kind of stuff when they're making those props I'm sure.

IROC used 4th gen LS1 TAs not so long ago...I don't think GM decided to have IROC Firebirds though since the IROC name stuck to the Camaro so well in the past.

They probably used it because the IROC was famous not just as a Mullet Mobile but as a Guido Mobile, especially in NJ where the Sopranos takes place. The joke goes that it stands for Italian Retard Out Cruising. So they probably just added it for effect for the show.

Billy T is probably right, although I think it is was the prop guys memory of Eddie Murphy's routine about Italians after watching Rock III. A lot of movies have little thing like that thrown in only to be caught by the very detail oriented watcher. But if you watch movies close enuff you will notice thinngs that don't belong. Like in Cinderela Man look at the bowl that his kids keep the turtles in, then watch Rocky I and you will see it is the exact same bowl Rocky kept his turtles in (Cuff and Link). Freaky huh

There is another scene in the episode when tonys cousin goes off hiding and the other mob family beats up the driver... they pull him out of his camaro with iroc clearly written on the sides, he tries to peel off but puts in in drive instead of reverse and slams it into a wall.
