iPhone vs. Droid

Tell me which one and why. I posted this same question on my FB and the popular vote was the Droid.

I would like some opinions based on experience if possible. If you've owned both, that's even better.

The new iPhone 5 is coming out soon. Would I be better off just waiting for this?

Feel free to discuss apps, battery life, texting, internet speed, etc.

The phone will mostly be used for internet access, game apps, and text conversation.

I've owned an android phone and the iphone and I prefer the iphone. Just feels like a better built phone. The interface is easier to read and understand, I feel like its more polished than android. Honestly, the best way to tell is to try them out. Android gives you more customization as far as rooting and apps, and hopefully someone else will chime in and explain what rooting is, but if you just want a solid smart phone go for the iphone.

Oh and I don't enjoy cock, I haven't laughed out loud at a comment in a while. That was good.

I've messed with both and to me android still has a few bugs to work out. They just came out with their new update but the iphone has been out much longer and they have worked out a lot of the kinks with it. If i were you i'd wait a bit for the iphone5 and compare it to the android when it comes out. I have an android phone btw

I'll agree that the iphone is a more polished phone. If you want the ability to mess around and have more fun with your phone, then go Android. I have a droid x and its the best phone ive ever owned. You dont have to root the phone for it to be cool. Its just a perk to be able to do more. You can do so much more with a droid phone over an iphone and dont have to worry about dealing with apple.

I currently have Verizon as a provider. I know that doesn't mean much since they now have a contract with Apple and supply both the Droid and iPhone, but I do want to stay with Verizon.

I prefer iPhone. I've never owned a Droid, but after seeing several of my coworkers happily drop their droids to get a Verizon iPhone, I don't feel the need to try one. There's a reason 30+% of Verizon iphone sales are people trading in their Android phones.

The Droid phones are a ripoff of the iphone anyway (flame suit on).

Eric Schmidt was on the board of Apple when the iphone was being discussed.

The original droid phone was going to be a regular numeric keypad phone until Schmidt stole/copied the interface. That's why he was recused from all discussion of the iPad. You can see how well the first android copies of the iPad are doing since Schmidt wasn't able to steal any of their design info.

I know the Droid is better if you like to tinker in the workings.

I'd rather have a phone that requires little to no tinkering.

Yes, my phone lives in the walled garden that is Apple. But it's kinda nice in here.

iPhone has more total apps but Android has more free apps... I have yet to pay for a single app with my android

The people with Droids aren't very convincing and haven't added much "intelligent" feedback. What did I expect though in AAG...

If I have to pay for apps, I really don't care. I can't see myself downloading but maybe a dozen or so anyway.

How about picture taking?

Interface with FB?

Speed?

Battery life?

I've had my 3GS since right after they came out.

Battery still goes a couple of days if not roaming. If roaming, it's done at the end of the day.

As far as speed, I did notice some slowdown on some games when IOS went to version 4.0 - ver 4.2. Now that it's at 4.3, the speed seems to be back and I no longer experience slowdown. My buddy had a regular iphone 3, not the GS version, and ver 4.0 made it near unusable it was so slow.

Takes nice pictures and even pretty good video.

Concerning apps, I have 82 installed, of which only 1 is a paid app. Tons of good free ones are available.

Mine is due now for an upgrade but I'm holding out for the iphone 5. I haven't seen the need to get the iphone 4 yet as my 3GS meets all my needs.

One more thing to keep in mind is the ecosystem and available accessories.

I have an iphone dock in all my vehicles so I always have my favorite music with me. Also a Logitech compatible clock radio which charges the phone at night.

And the single biggest + I can think of: Audio books. I used to love to read, now I find I never have the time. There is nothing better than putting in an audio book for a long drive. Makes the time fly. And if you get a call, it plays over the car audio system.

Don't know about FB since I don't/won't take part in it.

android + google = enjoy your phone and do whatever you want too it.

iphone + apple = big brother watching over and the apps store


simply put, google will let porn apps, vulgar apps, competing apps be allowed.

google and android have taken a large market hold away from apple and RIMM...
I have the HTC EVO and many of my iphone friends are jealous of it. plus my service/data plan is $80 a month unlimited everything including 4G.

All of those question depend on the Android phone you buy..

There are many android phones that are far inferior to the Iphone and other android phones. However there are many android phones that smoke everything on the market.

Remember android is an operating system not a phone.

However Android is the first phone OS, that have dual core phones. (meaning double processor power) Iphone does not have that.

Also the HTC EVO 3D will be released this summer. The first phone to take HD 3D pics and vids without the need of glasses.

Because there is such a wide range of android based phones, you have more options to choose a phone that fits you, whereas with an Iphone, there is only one Iphone.

Also in regards to your questions, it comes down to who is your service provider.

If you like full freedom, Google Android
If you like controlled freedom, Iphone

now for specs.

High end andoid phones:
-android, dual processor phones, more memory (faster and more powerfull than iphone)

-4.3 inch plus touch screen (larger than iphone)

-8mb plus cameras (rear cam, front cam usually 1.5mb+)

-qik, skype and many others for video conferencing on both wifi and cell signal
(iphone, video conferencing only on wifi)

-worried about battery life, buy a second battery for Android phones and swap when dead. iphone you cant take apart to swap batteries.

-interface with FB, both android and iphone can use FB apps or full page internet.



your best bet is, decide which cell provider you going or staying with. See which android phones they have, and read sites like engadget for reviews and comparison.

Android and Iphone are the stardard for smart phones. Both are good and both have their pros and cons. Which is great for us the consumer, its a great competition where we end up getting great phones.

as I mentioned above, you will have tons more options for phones with android, where as Iphone is always an iphone, 1 option only.

I don't know what everyone else is running but my droid is far superior (Processing Power/Memory/Etc) then any Iphone out at this time plus Icrap's service is hailed as one of the worst in the Nation. Icrap has more apps but Droid has more apps for free (Haven't paid for a app yet )

I personally get the phone first off for service and everything else second. Since Icrap doesn't get service.....Game, Set, Match!
