    interview attire-help ts|s look good

since ya'll are such dignified, white collar-types, what do you think of this idea:

I have an interview tomorrow with BC Rich Guitar company to become a member of their marketing/advertising team. Do you think it would be inappropriate or effective to wear a bandshirt and sports jacket as opposed to a suit and tie?

I'd go suit and tie and play it safe. Maybe wear the 6" sole shoes so you can see over the desk though

massive scrolling is annoying and ye should
but i'm with you-playing it safe is probably the best route; but part of me says "make yourself memorable with a rad bandshirt sporting their instruments"

are the guys interviewing you going to be in suit/tie? if not, i'd go the shirt/jacket route. more casual.

Your thought could be a great idea but gotta ask yourself two things.
What will be your everyday required apparell.
If you were the hiring person which would you rather see on somebody you were looking to hire.
    Then there's the bonus question.
WTF would an auto technician know about white collar jobs?

What is the usual attire for their company at the position for which you are applying?

You can still have a great interview while being overdressed.

You only have one opportunity to make a good first impression.
Basically your selection of clothes is how you are marketing yourself as a potential asset to the company. You are applying for a position in marketing...

Find out the normal attire for this firm. At a minimum, dress one notch better than their expected dress code.

You can always take off a tie if they are "informal", especially if you do in in a manner that demonstrates confidence and the ability to work within their guidelines. Heck if the interviewer asks you a question and you think you might stumble on the answer, you can always inject the appropriate amount of professional humor and loosen your tie (thereby buying you time for a better answer and disarming the interviewer at the same time).

and my second fav. set up.

    (2 year old pic)
know i have a two tone shirt..white collar and that same color shirt....you have to remember jaison..you need to look good..professional..but you also need to differentiate yourself for the other interviewees..need to wear a combo that at least one of the interviewers will remember as (that well dressed man) and as always ..stand when you shake someones hand and make sure you have a strong handshake...and never look down during the interview..present yourself like you own that interview

like said before, suit/tie is always your best bet. only one chance to make a first impression. if you dress down on the interview, they might think of it as your normal attire and be weary of what you might wear to meetings with potential clients.

    This is a joke, right?

Go with the band shirt and jacket if you're looking to join a high school LGBT club.

Go with the suit and tie if you like being hired.

It's not a joke, it's a risky decision. The company makes guitars, the kind that are used by heavy metal/rock gods. I'm weighing if it's better to be remebered as "the dude with the band shirt" or "that one dude"

That's like saying you're getting a job making advertisements for a porn company, so you should show up naked with a full-on boner.

It's a corporate setting, dress appropriately.
