anyone got any tips to get to sleep? im runnin outta shit and its now 4:51 am here and i cant sleep

lmao , depends when u have to get up, if its 5 am and u gotta get u at 7 dont bother sleeping
but this doesnt matter now , being that its 9:30

I've had bouts of insomnia for as long as I can remember. I've never really considered it bad enough to require prescription medication for, so I've yet to go to the doctor for it. Alcohol usually doesn't help too much unless I drink a lot, and by that time I'm either sick or I wake up with a hangover. Reading sometimes will do it. I finally tried an OTC medication, Tylenol PM, and it tells you to take one pill, well that didn't do jack, but the next time I took two and fifteen minutes later I was out. Be careful though, because I was out for about eight hours. That stuff will keep you asleep, so make sure you aren't taking it when you need to be up in like 3-4 hours.

Seriously. If you have a xanax script, eat about 2 bars, i used to go to a doc who prescribed those for me.
Dont forget jacking off - i jack off anyway, but it does help you go to sleep.

Hot shower, cold bedroom.
Going to sleep is a process. Getting there takes about 15 minutes for a normal person. Part of that process is that your core body temp drops and that signals your brain that you are tired. So taking a shower artificially raises your body temp, which then drops when you get out of the shower. the cold bedroom assists in this.
If you dont fall asleep in 30-45 minutes, get up, do something that is not stimulating, like reading, not playing videogames, then try again.
Another possibility is that you are sleeping, but just sleeping like shit. I have a lot of patients who tell me that they dont sleep at night, get tot he sleep lab, then fall asleep in under 10 minutes. They sleep like such ass that when I wake them up to try treatment for thier apnea they tell me they havent fallen asleep yet. Its called sleep state misperception.
If your insomnia continues for a few days, or intermittently for a few weeks, go to the dr, tell him you are having a hard time getting to sleep, and want to try Ambien. If he suggests a sleep study do it. They are easy.
