If I got serious how much better could I go (see track time)

Milan Drapway, MI late spring 2005 (first time at a track)

Reaction was was like .05 and .15 at wost so that seems OK (foulded once out of 22 runs)

    1/4 mile
    14.015 mph 101.800 mph

    1/8 mile
    9.216 80.210

60 ft time? or is it 80 what ever the standard is
    2.394

    traack temp
    68.0

Chevrolet Camaro SS Manual M6 2000

Now for the shame newbie shame you things I did:

Worst was driving through the watter "puddles" and lining up my rear wheels on the lights (dreaming I was a "stud" that faked it first time out). The only thing that made the guy laugh harder and almost wet himself was when I asked what a bracket was and why did he need to know.

I forgot and filled up with full tank of 87 octane the day before

My rims and tires were still my snow tread tires I got for $200 rima and all from a guy with a 97Z and no garage space. Little bigger diameter but don't rub but did had 47,000 miles on them and almost 10 years old. (filled to 32psi)

newer Fram filter, new fuel filter, and mobil 1 oil but all else is like is was stock just 60,000 miles later

Tires seemed to slip alot (Newbie also forgot to turn off traction control but that may have helped me oddly?

Went over the 1/ mile at to of 3rd at like 6,200 rpm from my sweaty glance donwn. Never had to go into 4th.

I was shifting around 5,500 rpm from 1 to 2 to 3 (all power shifts and actually did very well. the 2 to 3 is hard to really jam in there)

Still I beat all the camaros I raced except one and 1 of the 4 vettes.

for $30 I never had so much fun.

Looking for betteer times this summer and may even pry my wallet open.

    My quess
Better tires (or original Z rated from car with like 80% tread) and original SS rims I know for maybe -.25 sec? (manual though)

    1/4 tank 93 octane for ?

turn off traction control for ?

basic nitrus bolt on (simple version) for ?

    any help appreciated.

Sorry if you hate me but I am now willing to get serious (will miss the 24.5 mpg I have gotten for my most highway commuting for the last 6 years however.

    Jim

If you're $eriou$ enough, you can go 9s or better.

Best advice go to the track alot ... go early, go often. The more seat time you get the more youwill understand what to do with your car.

If you get serious........and actually try, you could get high 12's without doing much at all...........the big thing I see, is getting that 60' time down!

For a blown fuckin' motor. That's all the nitrous is going to give you.

Dude, i don't mean to be harsh here or anything, but if you forget simple things like gas and traction control you don't want to be fucking with nitrous. Get use to racing the car and getting to know the car before you think of spray.
