I don't but I did look briefly into a sport pilot license... to fly sport planes. Just don't have the time to devote to such things at the moment.

I have a few friends who are into drones and I thought what if you used a bunch of big drone motors for a personal craft. Which lead me to the volocopter.

The best thing about the volocopter is that because it's a drone it has auto take off and landing protocols programmed into it. So the pilot doesn't have to do the 2 hardest things in flying. Which means.... according to Germany's regulations anyway... you can get approved/certified to fly one in about an hour.

The worst thing is that it is 400,000 dollars. But if more people get behind ideas like these and they become more plentiful and common we will see costs drop dramatically.

    That looks cool man.

I'm also interested in this.........these can be built from about 35K with the motor.....it comes as a kit and you have to build it. very interested, it's like a ultra budget diy version of the icon A5.

Probably because they won't be able to afford all the law suits when people crash their planes lol.

In many places you can't even fly drones without a liability insurance policy. And these are .5-3lbs objects. Imagine the costs and red tape to cover your ass on 1000lbs+ aircrafts.

I have found quite a few sport planes for sale from 2,000 to 30k range. These are generally 100-120mph max speed aircrafts.
