I want to buy my 1st handgun...

I'd like to get a 9mm. I know nothing about guns other than I like shooting them.

So what are some good and relative inexpensive hand guns that would be good for me?

Good luck, NJ isn't exactly the easiest place to obtain a hangun.

If it's your first, I'd buy a .357 magnum and shoot .38 specials until you're more comfortable then move up to .38+p or .357 loads. 9mm has very light recoil so that won't be an issue. If I'm not mistaken NJ has a TON of bullshit gun laws so I can't advise you on any of that. What are you gong to use it for? I always recommend that a novice start with a revolver and learn the basics. You can trade up anytime you want.

dude 9mm is a great starting hand gun, cheap ammo. It depends on what you want the gun for.

if your going to take it to the range alot id recommend a glock, its a great pistol, very reliable.

I also like H&K USP .45 if your looking for a little bigger round.

Dirty Harry used a .44 magnum. Some have claimed that the actual gun shown in the movie was a .41 magnum but the guns are identical so no one knows for sure.

go to a local gun store and check out all the 9mm they have. the most important thing about getting a gun is that it fits in your hand. comfort and feel is the most important thing.

I have a 9mm beretta, I like the gun very well, strait shooter, but if you want it for home defense? I would go with a .45, because the 9 has more velocity and will go through several walls before it stops..It also lacks the knock down power of the .45...but it is the military standard so rounds are cheaper...just some things to keep in mind. beretta has been making guns for over 400 years, they are hard to beat for reliability, and acuracy.

I already know I like shooting a 9mm. That is what I want.
It will be used to go to the range & for protection should anyone ever try to rob me.

I would opt for a 40 mm Mini *Gattling* Gun in either tripod or handheld.
Just close your eyes, squeeze the trigger and let loose.
Great at vaporizing unwanted artifacts.

that is the handgun i own except mine is the H&K USP .45 Compact. it's a great firearm...

it depends on if you want it for defence or shooting ... But .45 is one of the best ... One shot and they dont get back up..

i have a $150 Hi point 9mm, its kind of bulky but its only for home protection. never jammed or let me down so far

There is no such thing as a "handheld" M134 minigun. The gun in that picture isn't real and the one used in the movie Predator is a Hollywood movie BS gun. (they don't sound like that either) The machinegun shoot is coming up next weekend at Knob Creek and you can buy a M134 there with the right paperwork for the low low price of $150,000. www.machinegunshoot.com

Get a Glock 31 in .357 Sig. Its a 9mm in a 10mm case, and uses the same EVERYTHING otehr then barrel as the 40sw, so for $100 or less you can swap in a 40sw barrel... and they make a .22lr kit for it, so buy 1 gun and you have 3 ammo options. 357 for penetration, 40 for knock down 22 to save money. Ammo is about $15-25 for 50 depending on load/company, but with the 22lr its about $2.50 for the same amount... shoooot ALL day and work on your trigger work. any idiot can aim weapon sights, accuracy and ability is ALL in the trigger pull.

i'm in long branch, ever want to go to shoreshot (exit 88 on aprkway) lemme know, show ya around the different guns.

glocks are cheap, extremly reliable, easy to clean, retain value, no exposed hammer, trigger is exactly the same EVERY pull, no da/sa trigger pulls to get used to, rediculously short trigger reset for even more accurate shots or rapid fire like a full auto... i could go on and on. get a glock.
