It was within 3 seconds of the ZR1.
With different weather conditions, it may beat it.
Would have to see both cars go at it on the same day....

I don't like the GT-R. But it is a very fast road course car.

well the ZR1 was there on a strong headwind on the back stretch. But yeah i agree I would love to see the two of them fight it out on a road course.

conditions play a huge part in times..sorta like i could brag that i run faster times then any t/a in colorado ..while i am in michigan only 600' asl...dont sleep on the gt-r..and also..i am pretty sure the gt-r is still considered fast.

Good point - I know a guy with a 540 ci Chevelle that ran 9.80's in street trim that got beat on the street. I guess he's slow too.

yes its fast but that is not the point he is making. Nissan makes corvette killer claims and then loses. Same thing with the GT 500. It came out swinging claiming it was going to overthrow the vette and lost. This is just another notch on the vettes belt.

Which vette though? C6? Z06? ZR1? If you find that out (c/w with source) and it's one of the latter two, I'll agree with you.

I still haven't found all the Ford claims of the GT500 trying to take out the z06. People sure compare apples to oranges on this forum. Nissan does however brand the GTR as a supercar and it has done quite a good job at delivering a high tech road rocket. The damn thing is fast, just because the z06 is faster doesnt suddenly make the GTR slow. Put 2 average drivers in both cars. I guarantee you both drivers will AVERAGE faster lap times in the GTR for the simple fact that its all wheel drive system is state of the art and average drivers are incapable of driving a z06 to its FULL potential without wadding it up.

ps I would rather have a z06 though. I like the z06 better, but the GTR is nonetheless a great car.

But there's now debate if Nissan sent ANOTHER ringer to the Ring(no pun intended). They already got snagged sending a non production GT-R for the 11.6 or 11.7(can't remember the exact time) 1/4 mile time. Mags and 3rd party tests have yet to get the thing out of the 12's. Don't tell that to the Nissan fanboi's though, they get super mad. It's a sharp car, TONS of cool technology but it's over-hyped and Nissan is playing games with its performance.

No shit? Do you have any links about this? Not doubting it, just find that interesting. If I remember correctly all the mainstream american auto mags have hit high 11's in it?
