    I need a Windows/IT geek in here....

You know how there are directories at work that you can't open up? You can get to the folder and see the file and click on the file, but it says 'access denied' or some other crap. Is there any way to get around that? To be able and open the file...no editing just LOOK at the contents??

And, no, I'm not going to call our desktop support for access.

You can always try to guess the admin password.

does it say "blocked by administrator" or something.. thats what my school's says when u even try to right click on ANYTHING .. or try to adjust ur preferences cuz kids were deleting stuff they had been to (game sites and stuff.. and yes porn) so its all been blocked.. do u have a logo on ur computer that would be maybe a scanner or a program of that sort? we use QNS at school.. its a network supervisor... and there is only one way to get around it if you're on a network.. unplug the ethernet cord and go around (that way the rules dont apply because most of the rules are stored in the main network data-base adn come thru the ethernet.. but u lose ur internet and alot of files that way... atleast while its unplugged.. dont worry it comes back when u plug it back in.. hope that kinda helps?

Won't be able to access any thing on the network that way. Other than getting admin rights or added to the user group for the folders it's going to be tuff to do. I'm sure if you search the web enough you should find a work around though.
