I need some CHEAP whisky recommendations
Im tired of buying this knob creek and mid-expensive whiskys, i really want to be a cheap whisky kinda guy and they also have cooler names than the expensive ones (old crow, old granddad, early times, canadian hunter), whats some good ones you guys have had?

Doesn't get any cheaper than Seagram 7 Crown. Back in my "glory days" I think the 750mL bottle was only 7 bucks at the PX.

I knew of a few guys from the time I spent in Tuscaloosa who swore by Club 400.

Seagram 7 Crown about as cheap as you can get but still taste ok. Jim Beam is so bad, learned my lesson. Jack for me is the good stuff. If your really cheap or dont want to drink glass after glass go for everclear, i love the stuff.. Strongest shit you can get and cheap as hell, just be sure to mix it with something. Instead of whiskey sours i make everclear sours and it tastes the same but the drink is twice as strong so you only need a few. Normally for me 10 whiskey sours usually gets me going but 3-5 everclear sours kicks my ass. Your choice. I prefer to drink less drinks to not have that bloated feal. Try it out..

When we were under age, we used to go find some wino hanging out at the liquor store.
We would give him a 20, tell him to buy us a half gallon of anything, and he could keep the change.
That's how we discovered Ancient Age.
It was always that or Old Crow.

You need to fugure out what type of whisky you like first. Jim beam is a bourbon, Hack Daniels is a sour mash, and Cutty Sark is a scotch. Once you know the type you prefer, then try different brands and blends to find the best bang for the buck. Some blends are better mixed and some better straight. The price, within reason, is less important than the blend and how you choose to imbibe.
I had a buddy of mine that only liked scotch, for example, and really disliked bourbon. However when I put 2 ounces of jim beam in a rich black french roast coffee he thought it was the best thing he ever tasted becasue the sweetness of the bourbon offset the bitter of the bean and the caffeine allowed him to stay awake and not pass out as soon.
The caffeine also helped prevent "whiskey dick".Last edited by tnthub; 04-21-2006 at 05:37 AM.

my dad was a deep-sea divin, hard-workin, hard-drinkin, Jim Beam kinda guy. He used to keep a pint under the seat of his 56 Jimmy pickup. Used to hit that throughout the day, even when he was drivin. It was a different time back then, it was almost expected guys did that.
