i need a new clutch!
the mickeys seemed to have taken their toll on my 02 ws6... i went to launch the car and there was smoke, but it wasn't the tires! lol! what do you guys recommend for a stock upgrade? just a typical centerforce?

Mods? Depending on Mods, LS7 seems like an awesome upgrade from stock. I run one with H/C with no issues. They are rated around 450ish rwhp and fairly cheap. If you are making serious power with mods then I would go with something a little better.

Man: The Mods you are fighting,
they are the biggest Men I have ever seen. I
wouldn't want to fight them!
Me: That is why no one will remember your name!

I would not recommend a stock replacement. Upgrade it with something more stout while you already have the tranny pulled.
I've had a Spec Stage 3+ for the last 2 years with zero issues.
My top choice would be: Textralia, McLeod, RAM, Monster, Spec. In that order probably. Just my opinion of course.

You can't go wrong with McLeod.
This winter my WS6 gets a dual disk McLeod with a Yalla Terra ultra light steel fly wheel.
After the Tick MS and other goodies, the whole package will come to around $1800.00 but, it will be the last clutch I put into her no matter how much more cash I throw into the engine.

I have a Mcleod kevlar single disc, cost about half that. Came with the Billet master cyl. Been flawless now for 7 years or so.

Mostly bolt ons and you are well under the rating of a LS7
Many better clutches out there then that but you will pay for them. I too have a heavy foot Depends what you're all time goal is with this car.

My recomendations from experience McLeod, LS7, Textrailia, Ram and Spec. Never dealt with a monster to give an opinion. seen too many issues wtih Textrailia Ram and Spec to put them at the top. To be fair Textrailia was with their twin discs

I have a monster stage 3.... kinda pointless since i'm not even at 400+ yet.... i'll be there soon though.
I like it. The clutch bites HARD! Very much the proverbial on off switch when you are banging off gears at the strip. Takes some getting used to but i've put almost 20k on mine and it's held up so far. Also.... that's almost 20k of mostly city driving.... in NYC. so take from that what you will.
My only complaint is that it chatters too much. It's much better since i got a bunch of miles on it went to solid engine mounts and put in a 12 bolt but it will still chatter on a slow start if i let it.

Mine chattered for a little while pretty badly at the beginning also. It almost feels like stock now. I have about 12K miles on it. I'm pushing 500rwhp and it never misses a lick. Next year will be the real test for it though. Plan on tracking the car a bit next year with some sticky tires. When my Nitto's were still newer, I dead hooked out of first and I have a 4.11 gear. Not ever a chirp at WOT shifting into 2nd.
When I was stock power and had the 3+ I did a few 4000-6000RPM clutch dumps. Clutch grabbed without an issue.
Hopefully it takes the abuse at the track next year.

I've seen and heard too many chatter complaints with any Spec to ever use one. Hell I put in a stage 2 in a LT1 car one time and the damn thing was chattering on the initial road test

Yeah now that i've got a 12 bolt and a tune and a DS I can't wait to try some DOT slicks, at least, and seeing how this thing hooks. 13.7 stock. hoping for high to mid 12s with tires and current mods. I think the Monster clutch will take it. they actually warn you that you are more likely to break other things in the drivetrain lol.

You should replace the flywheel, master cylinder, slave cylinder and throw out bearing all in kind. Your master would be OK since you have an 02, but the aftermarket Tick is strongly suggested with our known hydraulic issues.
