I need a new camera advice
up to $500
capable of shooting good night pics (30 sec)
still with auto mode for when I'm lazy
at least 10X zoom (prefer better)
I will not spend extra money on lenses
gotta buy now
what do you recommend?

Nikon Coolpix p100 can be found for under $300. HD video. 26x zoom. Pretty decent reviews.

Or, if you want the dslr route, the Canon Rebel XS is a nice entry level model. You can find the two lens kit for under $500.

I'm very happy with my Canon PowerShot S5IS. It's an advanced point and shoot with 8 megapixels and a 12x optical zoom.
