    I need help with 4x4......

I can't get my Trailblazer out of 4 low. I turned it off, went in reverse, and it wont come out. Any ideas?

I didn't know where to post this so I just did it here in AAG.

maybe the vacuum canister? I've had them not want to engage the 4x4 but I've never had them not want to come out. Do the lights on the dash change when you push the button?

I would say it's either the vacuum canister or the linkage to the transfer case. That's more of a guess than anything. I had the canister go out on one a few years ago but it wouldn't let it engage.

well, there isn't a canister on the newer GM stuff, but a thermal linear actuator or an electronic solenoid is most likely to blame... if so, there should be a manual override on the T-case... That's how my Tahoe is.

the last one I had to mess with was a 94 blazer so it's been a while. I prefer the manual stuff anyhow.

If it's really cold the electric motor that drives the fork in the transfer case can't overcome the extra resistance of the cold tranny fluid. Drive it around to get it warm or park it in a warm garage. Hit the 4hi button and then hit the 2hi button and you should be all to go. Also every 3-4 of months I got out to a gravel road and drop mine into 4 hi drive maybe a block then 4lo go another block and back to 2hi to exercise the system. It seems to like it.

Had this issue on my friends 94 as well. Replaced the switch, looked all over the vacuum lines. It was the actuator.
