holy shit...this happened 8 years ago...
we held off from sex until we knew we were committed to eachother. It was about a month into the relationship then i broke the ice and drop the "L- word" first, but the feelings were mutual. =) I think our "first time" (together) followed immediatly afterward. Now we're married

It was a long time ago (17 years of happy marriage here) but I believe I eased into it by commenting that if she didn't start acting like a typical btch I might actually start falling in love with her. That way I could gauge the reaction before making the statement. As I recall she made a similiar comment back at me.
