I have an idea, oil related!!
Well just to get my history out, I have run nothing but Mobil 1 and Royal Purple in my motor. I have tried Redline once, hated it because my piston slap was worst ever, changed it out after about 500 miles. Been happy with Royal Purple but even happier with Mobil 1 Adv. Super Syn, piston slap is non exsistant with it. Thinking about switching over because of what I have read from Sarge, but I have an idea. I am wondering if Royal Purple shows high wear because of the fact that it is suppose to micro polish bearings and such. If it acually does micro polish, then that would be the reason it shows metal in oil test. Just a thought, wondering what others think. And to all the boozers out there tonight, I am currently doing the same.

Well you must be drinking if you are "wondering" if Royal Purple is providing enough friction to "sand off" internal bearings/rings and that is a good thing. Polishing is the act of removing a surface material. I dont want any of my shit polished thank you.

They state its the oil that micro polishes. If in fact it was letting enough friction to let the metals polish each other, I would be fucked. Ran RP for about 9,000 miles total on my Maro. Other then that Mobil 1. I believe I am going to try Pennzoil, since you recommend it.

I think Sarge said $20 for a gallon at walmart in a different thread. Could be wrong though.

Penzoil is not that expensive at all, plus sarge will have evidence and back it up 100% so for that price im going to stick with penzoil and sarge all the way.

Pennzoil Platinum does really well on the uoa tests from what sarge tells me. Those tests are whats relevant as far as oil is concerned. I also agree with the price and its a true full synthetic. Until pennzoil cheaps out and changes the formula like mobil 1 did, p. platinum goes in both my vehicles.
The micro polishing you are talking about is a bunch of bullshit. There IS a point in micro polishing, but this is done on engine components prior to install in an engine. You DO NOT want your motor oil performing this task. If your oil is micro polishing your engine components its a creative way of disguising the fact that you are having engine wear.
Examples of micro polishing would be what nissan does in there VQ series v6 engines. These engines have micro polished camshafts and engine bearings. The idea is less friction, less heat, less wear, and more power. They perform the micro polishing prior to the engine components ever going into the engine.
