I got to ask ya all a question???
My 2000 trans am is absolutely amazing, love the car. But the 1977- 1979, 6.6L trans am, is my dream car, i would love a 1979 SE black trans am, the look is just classic. these cars are just beautiful!!!

The silver one is not to far from where I am, one of these days! I would love to restore one! Any of you guys trade in a LS1 trans am for one of these?

second gens have issues with rust,i would triple check a northern car,the silver one looks factory fresh, but rust could be hidden it is 32 years old.they are beautiful cars, the best looking car of the '70s hands down.

I wouldn't trade. I would just find one I could afford & fix it up. I bought a 2002 ram inducted ws-6 black t/a for my wife & I have a 2004 gto both cars are great. We are thinking of buying another car maybe a new camaro. Good luck in your decision, you have to do whats right for you.

for the second gens you have links to . . . yes i would trade my ls1. But theres no way I'd pay that much for a second gen when you can pick up a fixer upper for very cheap. And then you can build it exactly how you want it. Not as nice as those cars and isn't 100% done, but my 80 formy I only paid $100 for the car and currently have less than a few grand in. my 80 trans am, needed a little engine work and a right fender, and it was only $3000. Pictures of both in my profile.

I'd rather own a late 60s firebird. I am not a bandit train passanger ..
but would never trade my LS1 for it.

Sweet mother of all things holy, I would trade a 4th gen for that second car linked above in a fuckin' heartbeat. Hell, I would probably trade my GN for that car.
Spool, whoosh, sneeze, it's over... Was it fun for you?

let me state though that the guy i know with both a 79 and the 01, likes his ls1 a lot better, it does virtually everything better. the 79 is a tank that just looks badass

ps- i agree with stanger, they are a tank that just looks badass lol performance wise an ls1 would kill it (well...duh dumbass blackbeauty ls1.com already knows that lol)

Bright Red- 1999 Trans Am Ws6
Man that second one, 525hp and 660 tq, I don't care if it is a tank, it's still going to get up on it's legs and run. I don't think I like the lowered one dubb posted though, lowering ruined the look.

I think for all of us there are cars that we can literally stare at for hours, when I was in high school It was the LS1 Trans am I have now, and after a good wash and wax i still can. I've stood in my friends garage and just looked at his fathers Aston Martin DB9 for a half hour. And, any well built or maintained black 1978-79 SE trans am. One of these days I would like to pick up one, change it of course. There is nothing like the sound of a high compression lopey 6.6L pontiac. i would love to back it with a T-56 (surprisingly I haven't seen to many people do that to these cars) and as good as the new snowflake rims look, there is nothing like those old gold snowflake rims matched with raised white lettering on the tires, absolutely a priceless look. i don't think I would trade in my 2000 trans am, think I'm just going to have to have Both!!!
