I see Sara for 48 hours a week.
I pick her up on Sunday afternoon at around 5:30-6:00 and then her mom picks her up at 3:00-4:00 on Tuesday.
I plan on eventually trying to get her 50/50...but that will probably be a fight.

Well for starters get educated on the law. Common sense does not apply in family law. If your married and YOU move out of the house, you have already lost the battle.
For original poster, if you guys get along well enough try and get something in writing about when and how long you can have parenting time with the child. Overnights are crucial and the only major factor in determining how much childsupport you will pay.
Get an attorney skilled in family law.... Not a criminal lawyer who does family law on the side.... No a family law attorney. Expect a retainer of 2 grand or so. YOu cannot afford not to have an attorney.
If you can get child 50% of the time for a while before you end up in court, it would be to the benefit of the child to continue that. If you wait till court to decide visitation issues you pretty much already lost the battle. I think 50/50 custody is viewed at something like 128 overnights a year or something like 3 nights a week. Laws differ by state.
The judge don't care about you and your case... He has to sit there and listen to you guys bicker about how bad the other is. His only thought is why coulden't these people come to an agreement over this before I gotta listen to it.

A little bit of trivia, in days past, ownership of the children was held entirely by the male. This was the glue that kept the family together, because of the scientifically proven chemical-emotional bond between the mother and child. It would be difficult for the woman to leave the marriage and the children. Today, your marriage license is a three party contract with the state... a business deal. this makes you a trustee-owner of the child, a holder of property on behalf of a beneficiary. This gives the state legal rights to make certain decisions regarding the rearing of the child. Similar to how you can enjoy the use of your car while the bank owns it, but the bank can place conditions on you such as not taking the car out of the country.
