How many of you do your own work?

I was just wondering how many people do their own work on their cars? Not things like mounting tires and alignments (which both need $$$$ machines), But pretty much anything else. Also whats the most indepth project you have done?

I try to do as much as I can.

Most in depth project on my Bird has been changing the plugs and wires (it's basically stock).

But on my Jeep, I've installed a few lift kits, done brakes, and changed my front axle shafts, among other things.

I'm the most honest mechanic I know so I do my own work.

Strangely, I don't mind working on my car, but I don't think I would like doing it for a living.

I guess because if I had to do it for a living there would be time limits and stuff. Oh yeah, and when I screwed up there would be upset people other than me

I do what i can with my limited knowledge, skills and tools

I'm prob one of the few who does his own mounting and balancing, but thats only because my grandad has a tire shop.

Other than that I do my own oil, fuel filter, diff service, plugs, wires, radiator flush, EGR replacement.

All the little things. Only things i havent done are

    A/C
    Manifold Gaskets
Bad Coil....only reason I didnt do that is because I thought it was a tranny issue
    TC flush

I have my mexican friend do my work. When he starts going to slow I spray him with the garden hose and throw empty beer cans at him. Of course, I take the 10 cent deposit out of his pay check from the emtpy beer can. That'll learn him.

No one touches my car but me. There are some things I haven't learned how to do yet, but my best friend is a certified mechanic so I always got assistance if its something I am unable to do. I refuse to pay someone else to do my work or let my car be with someone else.

Its not bad at all if you have the equipment, i learned when i was about 13.

its got 4 pneumatic levers that hold the wheel and spins it... then theres a couple of tools you use to get the tire on and off. the balancer just spins it and shows you where to put the weight and what size.

Ive down big tractor tires though that have to be done by hand....now those are bitch, its fun to seat them with ether though, lol
