How many Engines have you rebuilt ??
not counting engines you have helped on .. Ones you have pulled out the car .. dunked, and totally rebuilt .. 2 Pontiac 400s, 1 Pontiac 428, 1 455 Olds, I dont count the Pontiac 455 because it was basically a short block that I changed the cam and heads on ... and dont count many many Outboards that me and Dad rebuilt or Engines I helped my Cousin rebuild in his cars .. mostly 302 Fords ...

Just one SBC. Hot tanked, blue printed everything, built from a bare block, had the opportunity to slap the heads I ported with the help of a SuperFlow flow bench. Then got to strap it on an engine dyno and do my best to blow it up. Little engine 7200RPMS countless times, I couldn't blow it up. That was a good time.
I did however have two friends along for the ride.

this was my first, it technically doesnt count by your rules cause I basically just took instructions from my dad the whole time. Ive done 3 cummins after this one though.
I always see people post their cam swap pics and think "aw, what a cute little cam"
other than that I did a 302 for my 68 torino way back.
mostly im just a lazy engine swapping son of a bitch.Last edited by Modulistic; 11-16-2009 at 11:40 AM.

Coming from a ex Caterpillar employee, I understand that. The shop I worked at was labeled a 5 star shop. Meaning every part had a designated rebuild area. Most I ever did was replace main bearing's in a D8 Dozer that had a fresh 2 hour engine, that had serious UOA problems. Installing main bearing caps with a 3/4 impact gun was something I had never experienced.

I didnt rebuilt my LT1 in the 97 trans Am .. mainly because all the wiring and have to drop it instead pull it ...and I would worry about working on a all aluminum engine like the LS1 ..

I guess I should rephrase this. While I did several hundred (maybe 1,000?) shortblocks (~6-8 a day) when I worked for an engine rebuilding plant in downtown Los Angeles (who shall remain nameless as we parted on less than stellar terms), I have done 50-60 engines that I took out of the car, had hot tanked, machined and rebuilt for customers when I had my own shop. Maybe 10 of these I took the time (hey, the customer was paying the freight) to blueprint during assembly (all engines were balanced) as they were being used for "extreme duty" (read: racing). Most were SBC/BBC but there was the odd FE/Windsor Ford or B/RB Mopar (never did an A engine though).
This doesn't include the half-dozen SBC's and 3 BBC's I did for my own racing "ventures" (at least that's what they were wrote down as for tax purposes).
I added this as it better suits the OP's thread definition.
