how many cops maybe detectives on ls1.com

Once the 14th hits i would have been in the navy for 7 years.

But i think my time to move on has come, i still have 2 years to go but i am looking at my future for now. Since i can remember i have always wanted to be a detective, of course to do so i need to be a cop. Having prior military experience will help me get a slight edge.

I was just wondering how much you like your job being a cop and if someone is a detective would you have any advice. I really want to start preparing now even though i am far out.

i would eventually want to be a cop, but the special operations division's have the cops that ride bicycles, i ride a bicycle pretty much everyday. I want in on that too.

Set your goals now bro and you will achieve it, 25 yrs old is a perfect time to make that jump towards a career.

I have been a Deputy Sheriff for 11 years. I work patrol shift on midnights with a K9, and am on the SWAT team as well. Been in the military for 16 years, 4 active and 12 reserve. I enjoy the LEO side a little better because you are "in the field" everyday applying the training. Military is complete opposite...Tran, train, train and rarely apply what you did. I know this to be true cause i have been deployed 3 times as well. But unfortunatley it get to be like any job...a job. Some days are good, some does aren't. Some I just don't want to be there. If you get out of the Navy stay in the reserves. It will help supplement your retirement. Being a detecive??? I personally will never do that. A suit and tie, looking over small details, and talking to people (petending you like them) is not me. I like the ever changing pace of my job with the dog, chasing bad guys.

Thanks for your work. People appreciate that when shit has happened. Hard, thankless job.. as said above, and put in the way of danger.

Yes i plan on staying in the reserves. Thanks for the input. I figure every job has its ups and downs, but i want to be able to go home everyday and not be on the otherside of the world, been there done that....time for a change i guess.

why don't you go in the private detective direction. My neighbor does that and has for four years seems to have a hell a lot of toys(beach house, boat, bikes, etc.) I'm not saying I'm just saying...looks a lot better than the dinky house most cops I know live in.

most of the guys that do that don't start off on their own. They usually were an officer at one point. I know a couple of people that do that out here. One guy is a P.I., multi-millionaire. He reconstructs accidents and more. But he is a retired CHP officer.
