    how in the hell???

Did people survive before microwaves?? I remember when we got our first microwave. I was maybe 11ish or something like that. My dad ran an electronic repair place and he fixed one that someone gave him. I still remember being there when he got it fixed and boiled water in a styrofoam cup. Probably took 5 minutes to get that water to boil. I also remember when mom used to cook popcorn on the stove in a pan with some butter in it.....best tasting popcorn out there. We eventually moved up to one of those "Mr. Popper" hot air cookers. But heating up leftovers must've been a real pain in the ass.....it's like cooking the same stuff a second time.

i never had a microwave until i was about 20. i used to reheat macaroni and cheese in a pot with a little bit of extra milk, haha. almost everything went into the toaster, or i ate it cold.

i'll never forget the time i tried to make a grilled cheese in the microwave at my friends house. inedible, lol.

We need a section on the forums where you old guys can go talk about stuff like this. THEN you can make another topic about the same thing a few days later, because you forgot you already talked about it.

Clearly remember our first microwave and the hotdog we cooked to try it out. My mother wasn't much for the kitchen and it was funny how we experimented trying to cook different things in it. Not sure if they still have them, but they eventually came out with these silver cardboard thingies that were supposed to help foods crisp as they cooked. It also had a temperature probe that plugged into a jack on the inside when you heated up liquids.

I take old microwaves that don't work so well and put silverware in them and turn them on - outdoors of course - makes quite a show.

A guy here put a plate in the microwave, not noticing that the plate had a metal rim. Was very fun to see his reaction...
