how to do taxes by yourself?
my coworker uses h&r block to do her taxes
she claims 1 dependent and she knew she had money coming
so she got off work early ($50 lost)
went to h&r block to do the taxes and she got charged $192 for tax preparation
she wanted money NOW so she got it NOW for a fee and the intrest
after everything, she got charged $277 by h&r (plus $50 she lost by leaving work early)
good thing she had over $3K coming
now I can't afford sh!t like that cause I'm probably gonna end up paying them
what's the best, most user friendly tax program????????

turbotax.com
It's like $30 and you don't pay until you're ready to file. 1040ez forms are free. It e-files for free to. Takes about 7-10 days to get your return back usually.

never go to H&R block!! they made numerous mistakes when i used them once.
if you are worried, find a local CPA to do your taxes. thats what i do, and mine charges about $75 to file mine and my wifes. the typical charge for a local CPA seems to be $75-$150.

Plus if you do qualify for something special, like tax write offs or anything like that they'll tell you if you need to upgrade before you do it. Most people with just basic things (home, married, kids) don't need to upgrade and can get it done fairly easily. They'll ask a ton of questions but most of it won't apply.

H&R block will be in the same trouble that Hewlet Jackson was in last year for finding people extra deductions they did not earn. I find it funny now that this year H&R Block says they will stand behind you if you are audited, but his is only after all the crap Hewlet Jackson went through last year.
Having a CPA do your taxes is the only way to go, because are not going to do anything illegal.

You---><---HRBlock
Turbotax.com is the cheapest most user friendly. I filed mine on January 25th, paid $44.90 to have fed and state e-filed and had my refund in my account February 1st.
Sure beats the hell out of that $277 blown $$$$

Julie used TurboTax to do her taxes as she claimed Sara and some other things.
I did mine myself using the 1040EZ.

i used taxactonline.com you can file your federal for free. if you have a complicated return, you can pay $11, to do it, and do your state taxes as well. i got about $6400 back, and i didn't have to pay anyone anything.

go to irs.gov and then to to one of the free e-file sites like h&r block ect, if you just go to the H&R block website it will cost you. This is assuming you made $54,000 or less if you made more I don't think you can e-file for free.

HR block online -- 14.95 -- I had my money in about 9 days.
Same as last year. Simple, 10 minutes, and I was done.

I e-filed free from turbotax with 1040ez, as for state, my state has the forms online with the formula's plugged in. You type your numbers in, and it fills in the other ones for you. Then you print off the forms and send them in. Piece of cake.

i've used h&r block in the past with no problems, but the price varied based on how long the preparer spent trying to find deductions for me. i sure as fuck dont wanna get audited though. i think i paid 100 bucks at the most at h&r. i might do them myself this year as im single, not married, and dont have any kids, dont even have a house yet.
