How did your Cabin hold up?
So this is a topic that i have wondered about ever since i bought my T/A. How well is the design of the t-tops/ drop-top and there reinforcement members, also the window uprights? I prefer to have answers with pictures of your car or someone you know who has had the unfortunate event of a crash. Sorry if i come off wrong but im just curious to see how well the car holds up, and pictures can explain alot. Haven't found a thread on this topic yet. Thanks to all input and any input is welcome.

One member recently flipped his T/A onto it's roof and the cabin held surprisingly well.
As for myself, the only wreck I've been in in a f-body was a 1993 Trans Am, hit a tree at about 35-40 mph, no cabin structure damage at all, have pictures somewhere, will see if I can find them.

Sunset Orange Metalic- 2001 Camaro SS
COPY OF HIS POST
Well, here goes the story, with pics. I was at close friends, or g/f (if we can call it that...) grandpa's nursery. I was talking to him, because I was worried about her. We talked, for almost a good hour, about what we we're concerned about and what's the good course of action. But keeping this portion short, we decided what I needed to do and went on my way. I drive down the road, was turning onto the main road. Slower then I normally do, you come on this road at pretty much 160 Degree angle, you can normally take it at 60 MPh solid as a rock. I was doing 45-50 MPh due to the rear end being strange. I came around nice clunk and grind and my rear end shot out on the passenger side, shooting the nose toward the median. Now I know when you slide, if you hold the gas, even give it a hair more, you can hold through the slide... So I do so, nothing engine revved all the way up, and nothing, no power to the wheels, going side ways, freaked out slammed on the brakes. Spun the car around, went into the ditch side ways. Hit like a drainage thing, flipped the car on it roof. I sworn I crawled out the drivers window, but looking at the car, no way I did, I had to crawl out the passenger. Before I crawled out, there was two off-duty EMT guys running toward the car, back type lady, and a lawyer. By the time, I got out of the car, I can hear a FireTruck and EMT. This all happen so fast, before I even realize what truly happen, the EMT had me sitting on the back of Ambulance taking my blood pressure. All I remember was the lawyer asking me if I had any work done to the car, did anyone mess up. I remember trying to get up and beat his ass, because he annoyed me. But they pulled me back and said your blood pressure is 198 over something, they tried to keep me calm until it got lower. While they checked my back. But all in all, I was find, cut up a bit, whip lash, and slight pain in my chest now. Two cops then showed up, I talked to them. Thanked the emergency crew for the fast response, was impressed by there speed. Herd the cops argue about who's jurisdiction it is, they finally said it's FHP. They dispatched them, they said they will be there soon. The two cops was about to leave, I said,"Wow, your going to leave me here, if you don't mind I would like for you stay till FHP gets here." So they stayed, FHP got here 30-45 mins latter. I talked them, explained what happen, they did there training to the new guy, called a tow truck. Tow truck gets here, flips the car back over. I asked him how much would it be to have it towed to the house, he said 125 at first... Then he I called mom up, to ask her to get some cash out of the bank. Then he said 140, I did not feel like argue... So half way to the house, he said 140 + $3 a mile... I live like under 15 miles from the crash site, hell when we got to the house, he said first 10 miles is free. But what ever, I told him to drive home, herd there stupid story's about our cars. How they have 450 HP stock and how the new Camaroe has, a 427 CI motor and how the new Zo6, has a 427 "Supercharged". Well we get to my house, he decided to argue with my mom... At this time, my "G/F" calls... Because her step dad drove by and saw the car and I in the ditch. He did stop by and I asked if I was ok... But apparently he called her and yelled at her. Saying it was her fault I flipped my car over, since I was so damn worried about her. She in turned called me and started yelling at me, my blood pressure must have raised again... Because I never yelled at her in this way. I told her, to not fucking come home in a pissed off mood, I just wrecked my fucking car, and a bunch of other shit... I forgot what I said... I hung up, turned around and looked at the tow truck driver who was yelling at my mom. I yelled at him,"Lesson you fat ass fucker, get my damn car off the damn truck and don't hurt her anymore." My mom through the money at him, scripled on the papers. He then short changed her, he took my car of the truck, did really lower it enough and scratch my front bumper, pissed me off I said,"Look dump ass can't do a simple job right." He took my car off, then yelled at me,"Look her boy, don't get mouthy with me or I..." I just fucking lost it at this point I started yelling at him,"Your going to threaten me on my property, get the fuck off my yard, I was walking toward him, getting ready to just open a can off ass beating on him. This fat fuck runs so damn fast and jumps in his truck and speeds off.... But yea, longggg story short, bad fucking night...
But hey, I bought two loto tickets earlier, I was think well maybe something will come out of a bad night. Did not get one damn number.

I bought all the suspension stuff as it was being made available back in the day (STB, SFC, rollbar, etc) and it has made my 'racecar' solid over the years.
No leaks, creaks, etc
**betta knock on wood**

I decided against the Vette for sure, drove that POS to Orlando, hell no... I am more then likely going to get the older T/A. But I do have my eye out on a 1996 Cobra Procharged Mystic Blue with 45,000 miles. But I think $13,995 is a bit much, I may talk him down and make payments on it. But I don't like the Mustang group and to me that's half the fun is the crowd. I like getting out and going to car shows, talking with people who have the same car. The dealer also has a 2002 Trans Am Ws6 M6 Hurst Edition 55,500 miles, $14,995.
Then they also have a 2003 Corvette Zo6 with like 23,000 miles, $24,995. If I am willing to make payments, then talk them low enough on one I like. I will get one of them. Other then that, I will get the T/A. Pay that shit off.
This is true, I need to help a guy in Knoxville figure out how much shipping is. When I do, and get a low number he's willing to pay for shipping (He's in Iraq and told him I will help him find a carrier. He's having his brother install it in a truck). He will put a $500 deposit down, and pay the rest on the 1st. Once I have the deposit, you all going to be happy. I saw few days, I am going through and taking pics of every good part of the cars, when I get back home.

Here's an update. More detail on the cars.
1980 Trans Am: Down the road, talked them from $8500 to $5,000. Good shape, nice all around for it's age. 6.6L and a Ederock Carb. It's also NBM, looks good but will change the color.
2002 Corvette Zo6, not 2003: 27,000 miles. HERE IS A PRISTINE EXAMPLE OF A WELL MAINTAINED 2002 Z06 CORVETTE. THIS Z06 HAS THOUSANDS IN PERFORMANCE UPGRADES. ALL WORK WAS DONE BY REDLINE PERFORMANCE. THE CAR HAS A CUSTOM TUNE, BREATHLESS PERFORMANCE RAM AIR INDUCTION, CUSTOM GRIND CRANE CAM (WITH UPGRADED VALVE SPRINGS AND RETAINERS), HARDENED PUSH RODS, NITROUS EXPRESS MAF KIT (JETTED FOR 150 SHOT), BILLETT CATCH CAN, MSD DIGITAL WINDOW SWITCH, PORTED THROTTLE BODY, MSD PLUG WIRES, DYNATECH LONGTUBE HEADERS & X PIPE, TEXTRALIA OZ 700 CLUTCH, DTE DIFFERENTIAL BRACE RPM STAGE 1 DIFFERENTIAL WITH 3.73 GEARS, WOLFE RACECRAFT BOLT IN 6 POINT ROLLAGE AND SIMPSON PLATINUM 5 POINT HARNESSES. THIS Z06 HAS BEEN BABIED AND TAKEN CARE OF. IT HAS A FEW PASSES WHICH IT RAN 10.80 @ 130 MPH ON THE GAS AND 12.00 @ 120 ON MOTOR. ONLY ROYAL PURPLE FLUIDS HAVE BEEN USED ON THE MOTOR, TRANSMISSION AND DIFFERENTIAL. THIS Z06 SHOWS NEW INSIDE AND OUT. ZERO APLOGIES OR STORIES WITH THIS INCREDIBLE VETTE. CALL TODAY FOR MORE INFORMATION!
It's $24,995, but thinking about it... I don't like the idea of it running spray through it...
(Black/Black)
1996 Mustang Cobra: 45,000 miles. This is a 1996 Ford “Mystic” Cobra. It is #465 of 2,000 Mystic Cobras built. The “Mystic” paint color was an $ 800.00 option. This color was never used on any other vehicle. This car has approximately 45,500 miles on it and has been garaged most of it’s life. It has several performance modifications, however, all original parts, including engine, exhaust, suspension, etc., have been retained so that the car could be restored to stock condition, if desired.
At this time, the car has been modified to provide 420 horsepower with 376 lbs. of torque. Most engine and drive-train work has been performed and “dyno-tested” by the nationally known, LaMotta Performance of Longwood, a mustang specialist. The modifications are as follows:
1. ENGINE / POWER TRAIN
a. Cobra 4.6 liter dual overhead cam, aluminum block V-8
b. Vortech S-Trim Supercharger w/ 6 lbs. of boost.
c. Cold Air Kit
d. Ford Lightning Throttle Body
e. 42 lb. Fuel Injectors
f. High Capacity Fuel Pump
g. Steeda Tri-Ax Short Throw Shifter
h. Ford 4.10 Posi-Trac Rear End Gears
i. H-type Flow-Thru Exhaust w/ American Thunder Mufflers
2. SUSPENSION
a. Bilstein Coil-Over Shocks
b. Maximum Motorsports Control Arms
c. Maximum Motorsports Camber/Caster Plates
d. Maximum Motorsports Panhard Type Rear Anti-Sway Bar
e. Maximum Motorsports Full Length Sub-frame Connectors
f. Maximum Motorsports Three Way Strut Tower Brace
g. Maximum Motorsports Braided Brake Lines
Most of the work has been done in the last 3 years, with the engine modifications done only 1,400 miles ago. This beautiful Mustang Cobra sports 1999 Cobra wheels and a Colgan Custom bra. The interior is beautiful with all features in perfect working order. This is a unique Mustang Cobra that is fun, and exciting to drive.
2002 T/A WS6 M6: He sold the 02 Hurst WS6, but he haves another one (Not Hurst). It has 56,500 miles. 2002 WS6 TRANS AM, SIX SPEED, SLP STAINLESS STEEL EXHUAST, SLP AIR BOX, LOW MILES, EXTRA CLEAN, READY TO GO. THESE CARS ARE GETTING TOUGHER TO COME BY SO DON'T WAIT AND MISS THIS ONE. I forget what he asked for, I seen it on Craigslist for $15,995 I think.
All these cars are from the same dealer, accept the 80 T/A. I want to wait to see if I truly want payments. If so, I will find the one I am truly interested in and talk him down.
Edit: Probably should start a separate thread, instead of jacking?
