    hot wheels

does anyone else collect hot wheels cars? i have always bought ones that i liked...f-body johnny lightnings or hot wheels...mostly real cars or real concept cars...not a lot of the new garbage that hot wheels has come out with recently targeted at their younger audience...but cars that, if designed special for hot wheels, look like they could be a real car.

so...who collects? like i say i just recently started picking up ones that i like on a fairly regular basis. the collection is expanding quickly and i have stopped taking them out of the packages unlike how i used to open them up and arrange them on my shelf.

I buy ones that are rare cars that I like... don't take them out of the packaging, they're collecting dust on my shelf. All of them are hot wheels except for a johnny lightning. The johnny lightning one is a white third gen that looks exactly like my car, the 25+ hot wheels ones are old muscles cars or sports cars I think are cool.

I have a big bag of unopened Nascar and old drag car (Sox and Martin, Don Prudome, etc.) including one mistake. The package says Micheal Waltrip but the car is Geoff Bodine. I have a Mark Martin #60 Winn Dixie Busch car that I have taken to at least 10 races trying to get it signed. I have hidden them from my son untill he is old enough not to rip them open the minute I hand them over.
A lot of them arent hot wheel brand but the same size and style. Too lazy to go look at them right now.

any specific scale? i know a lot of the nascar cars are larger scale than the hot wheels and johnny lightnings.

I am like you, I only buy ones I really like, mostly Camaro's & Vette's. I do have both series of the Hot Wheels Classics which are pretty cool. I am more into 1/18 and 1/24 scale models though. I have 40+ models of those 2 sizes.
