I just watched this on the tv here... What a scary ordeal that would be. Lets hope everyone involved comes out ok...

truely...i guess it was bumper to bumper during rush hour traffic at a near standstill. there was a school bus full of kids that a guy had his truck cut in half in the collapse but got out okay got into the school bus and helped every kid off the bus...they are all okay.

they are talking 30 some injuries so far and there are some sections that fell onto a road under the bridge and there are cars trapped under there.

The Homeland Security Department had received no indications Wednesday night that the collapse was an act of terrorism, department spokesman Russ Knocke said in Washington.

"We continue to monitor the situation. At this time, there's no indication of a nexus to terrorism," Knocke said.

Whew, glad that's out of the way.

The bridge is old and was recommended for repairs last year.

the bridge had been under repair for the last month at the time of the collapse.

That is crazy. Seems odd that his happened with no outside force. They are engineered to last nearly forever. Besides that bridges are continously inspected for any signs of potenial failure. If it was that bad they would have shut it down completely, no matter how big the inconvience.

they did say they were not doing any "structural" repairs. but who knows.

Govenor said no structural defects in the 2005 and 2006 inspection.

correct. it was being repaired now after something like 30 or 40 years in service with plans to be replaced somewhere between 2015 and 2023.

i remember one of the news stations saying it was built in the mid-60's
the bridge was inspected in 2004 and there were cracks in the metal structure on both ends of the bridge.

i can see one of the parts trucks from my dealership on its side in the footage

my question is where is the video of the callapse? there are traffic cameras right next to the bridge.

fiance's cousin was in it and i'm still waitin to hear about my family up in minnesota. her cousin has a broken collar bone and a broken arm with the usual bumps and bruises, he was scheduled to go to iraq in a year i guess but now i guess he's not gonna be goin eventhough he'll be healed by then
