HOA nazi bullshit

where to begin. my mom and I live in an adult community..45 plus. I live there because I was over 18 at the time. We've lived there for 5 years now, and i've always had a sports car (t/a or vette). For the past two years, I've worked at the same job, and when I work, I used to have to leave by 530, now i start an hour later, so i leave by 640. In the morning, I go out, start the car, walk back inside, put my shirt and pants on, say bye to my mom, and out I go. A total of 5 mins goes by and im gone. I only warm up the car in the winter time, partially because i want to be warm, and partially because its good for the car. I dont speed through the neighborhood. I've got lt headers and borla. catless. So in the whole year of me having this car, i've had one complaint left on my car, threatenig to go to the police because i was "speeding". loudness=speeding appearently. Anyway, I had called the police and they said as long as im not downshifting or reving through the neighborhood, im ok. So, last night I get a letter in the mail from the hoa, warning me because some neighbor said I let my car idle for at least 10 mins at various times of the day, and because of the noise in the neighborhood. I throw my car down into 5th gear when im going out in the morning, and when i come home i all but coast. So i've already made it a point to go pay this guy a visit tomorrow morning to talk to him about all this. My mom was pretty upset about it. I think it's bullshit. I used to drive the vette all the time, and its louder than the t/a. So in all of 5 years of being here, does someone finally get pissy now?? What can i do?

ask the head of the HOA to listen one morning... be as friggin quiet as you can as you leave...

I've told people I cant control how the car grunts when i start it in the morning. its just how it is. its that way with any car., and within 2 mins they quiet down.

HOAs cannot regulate how loud youre car is, thats a job for the police.

I've called the police too. The one other time someone complained, there was a note on my car with a threat they'd call the police. So I did them a favor and called the police for them, explaining the situation. The officer said as long as im not reving the motor, or letting the car downshift loud at night/ect, that i was fine. But the hoa can have people kicked out right? mainly me

Read the hoa guidelines. No specific rule no problem. I kept getting complaints about my yard and kept calling asking what specificly was wrong. They couldn't tell me. So I
just keep going along minding my own business and pay my dues on time. They have not bothered me in months. I tried to complain about my neighbor who used to have his gardners come on Saturday @ 7:00am. I used to get so pissed off I would get off work some times at 5-6am after working 15-18 hour days and those guys would crank the leaf blower. Just call the hoa out on there bs rules usually they don't have one for your problem.

For rear mount mufflers (front drive cars) a section of steel piping forced down the cars tail pipe with a 5 pound sledge oughta remove any restriction

You would want to look for a section on "noise".
State/local governments regulate cars not HOAs. If the local government is ok with your car, the HOA cant do shit.

I live in a condo HOA and 5-6 years back a person bitched about my car being loud (which it is) and i fired back with my car has an IEPA sticker in the front window which makes the car street legal with local laws.

buy some of that foil piping they use for drying machines... hook it to your exhaust and run the piping in the the complaining neighbors house... let your car idle for at least 2 hours and you won't hear from them again...

I had a ricer for a neighbor before. He would let his car warm up for at least 10-15 minutes every morning, ~6AM. Fuckin' annoying as hell, & there's no good reason to warm up a car that long. I don't think the HOA can really do anything, but letting a car with loud exhaust idle for more than a few seconds is a dick move on your part.

Enlighten us on your solution to the problem? When its freezing outside it takes a good 5 min. at least to defrost the ice and stuff...
