white- 2002 camaro z28
i have a 2002 camaro z28 that has slp exhaust and lid and intake. also a trut tower brace and sub frame connectors. and i havent lost to any wrx or sti or any of that jap. crap. that doesn't have thousands of dollars in it. i think that the 6 speed is the way to go. but i can drive a stick very well i believe i have been drag racing manual cars for about 3 1/2 years. i think there is an advantage if your good. i ran my z28 3 times and i ran. 12.67 , 12.54 and 12.59. there isn't much import crap that can run that with very little done and there is tons more that you can do to make these cars run 10s and still drive everyday my body has a ls1 with a 383 and nitrous and he runs mid 10 second 1/4 miles and he drives it everyday. i want low 10s for mine but i have only had it for two weeks and i love the power and the gas milage 20 in city and 26 down highway isn't bad for a mid 12 second car.

Get a LS1 TA and don't worry about how fast it is. It will look bad ass compared to the imports.

If 1/4 mile time is your pleasure, go with a hard-top Camaro or Formula Firebird. Those are the lightest. As far as times go, a 12-second car is VERY easy to get. A 10-second car is not that difficult and still has excellent drivability. It's all dependent on how much you want to spend. Also, for 1/4mile, an automatic tranny with a stall is the way to go IMHO.
As far as the HP being a 500-breaking point... I don't know. All I know is you should be able to make the car as fast as you desire on a stock-block LS1... That is unless 8s are your goal or some insane number close to that. If that's what you want, just buy a rolling chassis and build a C5R 427.

I as well as many other people here can and will tell you 500 hp is NOT the breaking point of this engine Nitrous on this engine is cheap and makes 500 hp very obtainable in an instant with supporting bolt ons...
Alright... I'm starting it now. Try not to piss yourself.
