Help fixing computer screen?

I have a HP Pavilion zd8000 laptop and last night my screen got a thin purple line that runs vertically on the screen. On a white background it is invisible but on any other color it sticks out like a sore thumb and it driving me nuts. Any clue what this is or how to fix it?

It could be that your video drivers are corrupt. If it was a driver problem it wouldn't just suddenly start to happen after working well for a long time without any major changes however it more likely that your memory on your video card itself is crapping out or the fan on your heat sink if you have one is clogged up with dust depending on how old your machine is. If a screen capture does capture the weird line, it can ONLY be a software/driver issue (if it was hardware, windows wouldn't be able to tell something was screwing up). If nothing else helps hit it with a big hammer it will make you feel better!

hate to say bad news, but it is possible your screen is going bad, you could always try to LCD Repair program that will freak your system out, in some cases it works.

Haha. I'm computer retarded so I have no clue what it is. I've had this computer about a year and a half and it started it yesterday. it is possible that dust can be doing it, the fans are on the bottom and sometimes its in a dusty climate. i have no clue what a screen capture is so if anyone can give me advice how to clean this thing or things to do to try to fix this, please help me. Its a thin purple line that is always in he same spot and only appears on colors. It comes on as soon as I start the computer.
