yep...this will happen more and more as cars get more powerful. I remember people wrecking 200hp mustangs...most people have no idea what 700hp is like.

You beat me to the post, Scott
It's not all that surprising - it happens with every new car. 707 hp, or not.

This reminds me of the guy in the Lamborghini trying to show off.
After all, what's the point of a fast car if you can't show it off to someone?

Thou speakest the truth.
And it doesn't really need to be a performance car. Drivers lacking experience exist at every rung on the automotive ladder.
Behold the mighty Neon with the clutch flying through the hood...
At least he got a cool cowl induction mod for free.
Demanding something free on top of a discount is just being a Democrat

I love powerful cars as much as the next guy, but I really think these car companies making cars like this available for the everyday driver is getting out of hand. Most people have no business driving around in a 700hp car.

I just talked with my boss about this (he's a huge car guy and owns an '06 Ford GT) and he said dealerships wouldn't be able to be selective on who they sell these cars to, but believes auto manufacturers should not be making cars with this kind of power for the masses and you'll start seeing lawsuit after lawsuit coming against them for doing so.

This starts to fall into the "Blame the Gun Manufactures for making the gun or Blame Alcohol makers for a Drunk Driver killing someone" argument. Ppl are responsible for their stupidity. I'm just glad he hit a tree and not a family in a mini-van.

Background Checks for High HP Cars...? Please dont give the government any more ideas on how to restrict what we can and cant have I vote to have that comment removed so the Feds dont see it.

The max speed limit is only 75mph.
Why does ANYONE need a car with 700+HP?
Actually a 100HP 4 cylinder can hit 75, so anything with more than 4 cylinders is in fact unnecessary.
All cars now come with OBD capabilities so it would be very easy to install an electronic limiter that prevents exceeding the posted limit.
This would be best for everyone, right?
The government enacting limits on personal choice is a slippery slope.

In the early 90's when the Ninja 1000 came out (IIRC it was called "Mean Green"). Insurance companies in TX wouldn't insure anyone under 25. So in effect unless you were 25 and had insurance you couldn't purchase the bike.

I've been on that road. It isn't too extreme... just someone got in over their head with a car they had very little seat time in

There were two other people in the car at the time of the accident. You have to know that moments before the crash the driver said, "hey guys, watch this!"
