    Health Insurance FTW

I got a reality check on how f'd up medical insurance and doctors offices are. Went to visit the Dr, and had to go follow up at a clinic for a test. Got there and was quoted $515 ($402 out of pocket since I hadn't been to the dr this year). told them I couldn't afford it and left the hospital.

Called my dr office and they found another place which quoted them $120.87 for the test. I said great and went on over. While I'm sitting there, they ask me if I have insurance and I said yes. Guess what I hear next... "Well, sir this is the cash quote for somebody without insurance. Yours might be a little higher since we are required by law to run it through insurance if we know your covered."

Guess what my out of pocket is. $390 thru insurance. WTF. So, I pay $500 a month for fuckin insurance and get the benefit of paying almost $300 more for a procedure vs somebody who is uninsured.

Please tell me I'm not the only one that thinks this is fucked?

Always check the formulary and the coverage before buying any insurance. Many are basically worthless.

Be lucky you have insurance as it goes both ways. For me to get even basic insurance its $600 a month which doesnt cover crap. Ive tried 6 other company;s and cant get crap because pre existing condition.

    My life is a
    Ben Stiller movie.

my insurance through the day job went from bad to worse. I'm totally responsible for 100% of the bills until I pay 2500 worth for the year-then the insurance pays the rest in full. Fucking blows ass.

TSS: Look at a mini med or gap plan. Cheap and picks up the first $2500.

    Oh man...

My mother had to fight with them over and over again to get a procedure done. Their doctor tried it twice, failed both times. Insisted he would get it the third time.
My mom basicly told him to fuck off.

Yeah, lately it's been nothing but trouble. Went through the ppo website and three of the places I call no longer will take new patients with my insurance because it's too hard to make them pay supposedly.

I was just amazed that they quoted my dr office 120 and then when I get there ask if I have insurance and jack the price to 390.
