HD DVD vs Upconverters?
I was looking to buy a HD DVD player but then I saw that all the new DVD players upconvert standard dvd's to near HD. How close is the upconversion to what an HD DVD looks like? I ask because its $100 vs $500 and HD DVD's are still rather expensive compared to regular DVD's.

I have one that converts and it's ok....but it's no where near true HD. I'd wait on the HD-DVD/ Blu-ray until there's a clear winner of the war.

I keeping getting mixed info on the HD/BluRay thing... HD is only 720 but can be made with the same tech as a standard DVD, but there doesnt seem to be alot of titles available... BluRay needs all new equipment to manufacture, and tehy are expensive as hell for both the movie and players, but they are 1080 and hold hordes of data., have lots of movies available, but Sony is on its way out as a company, and no one can find PS3;s which are actually the cheapest bluray player you can get!

pie- free
I'd wait till players come down to a reasonable price ($300 or less) and the clear winner of the format war has been crowned.
