HD DVD is part of a format that may not bearound for another year....Blue-Ray and HD DVD are in the battle to get the all around print crap...

Digital Cable, meah its alright but remember alot of the broad cast companies dont support anything over 720p if your wanting HD

Also your TV best be a good use for HD if you dont have an HD TV then dont get the HD DVD Player

Blu-ray sadly enough is probably going to win the war because of the PS3...if you want a blu-ray player might as well buy the PS3

I bought my HD-dvd player when they went on sale at walmart for $98. Its a great player and havent had any issues. I went this route over blu-ray because of what happened back with the Beta vs VHS. If blu-ray does prevail then I might buy a PS# but for right now I am not spending that kind of money. Oh and yes it is hooked up to an HD TV. Hitachi 42" plasma 1080hd

honestly i'd say to get hi def cable, gonna cost more in the long run to just go with a hd dvd player because of having to buy discs and the format war isnt over yet.

I never said it was 1080p. Besides to most people you cant see the difference between P and I to the untrained eye. I did alot of research before I bought my TV. I didnt fell like spending an extra $400 for the P when the picture looked the same on both of them. I even had the guy at the store hook up and HD dvd player to both of them individually and play a movie. There really isnt as much difference as people make it out to be between 1080I and 1080P.

and can a HD disk player play blu ray ? vice versa.negative, only exception being the samsung and LG universal players

whats avg cost of each disk ? between $25 and $35 per on average
hope that answers it, might not seem like a huge difference but with 1080p content going to a 1080p source at the correct distance it makes a difference
