i think it was Massad Ayoob or Clint Smith who wrote that the surest one shot kill they ever saw happened with a .25 pistol. He found a guy dead in the street who got shot in the diaphram and fell over dead. He said you could see his boot impressions in the dirt where he literally got hit and fell backwards dead.

In Bumfuckistan, we were having problems dropping shitheads with the 9s without f'in wasting ammo. So they issued us .45s. No problems since. 1 or 2 rounds and they stop twitching.
HK Mk23 SOCOM .45ACP is also a fav of mine...
...As is the Ruger Mk III .22

can someone recommend a good quality handgun thats powerful and fun but easy to use for someone that is a complete virgin when it comes to handguns and only intends on using it to practice at the range? Im thinking it'd be a hobby I enjoy. I'm 5'7-5'8 and 170 lbs from working out so I got a strong grip and can take a lil recoil i suppose but i prefer as lil as possible if this helps.

OK depends on what you want, the 9mm has alot of velosity, so it will go through a couple wall before it stops....but amo is cheap anything the militarl is using as standard side arm the amo is cheap....If you want stopping power then the .45 cal is a good gun....hope it helps....I could give you the run down on a few more....like the .40cal alot of pd have addopted because recoil islow and has good stopping power, and will not travel as far....the adaped it so women could use it easier......there you go.....hope it helps
