Gravel Driving
Anyone have to drive on gravel?
I bought my car in December and have taken it out once and it was a pain because I'm a mile of gravel from the blacktop road.
I did 8 mph and still had gravel dust all over...time to move I guess...

pfft pansy!! I have 8 miles of gravel one way. I wash the car every time i take it out for a drive just a quick rinse with the wand wash. I do about 50km/h usually and stay in the middle of the road when someone is coming and move at the last second so they slow down but still got a lot of stone chips I noticed when I was looking over the car at the dealership, but what am i going to do? my buddy with his old gt would do 100mph like it was pavement lol

1/2 mile of dirt road for us. I crawl and just pray that some asshat doesn't come blasting at me from the other direction throwing up a plume of dust. With a black car though, it really does not matter how slow I go as the back will still end up dusted.

Ok as long as it's not just me....The most direct route for me is 6 miles gravel but I go the 1 mile south to blacktop then 2 miles east then another mile north and 2 miles west so basically 6 miles extra blacktop to only have 1 mile gravel. The gravel roads here have both large and small stones so its hell on the tires and easily kicked up. I have MT ET streets on the rear and so far they seem to hold up in the gravel.
It pains me looking under the hood...all the covers just get so damn dusty and again I litteraly was going 8mph the whole way.
Maybe I add a boom sprayer to the truck and spray the gravel a bit before I take the car out

Does'nt matter here.. They tar and chip nearly ALL the surface roads here..
They put up warning signs.. Too bad it's usually put only as far as some fat fuck smoking 10 packs a day can walk..
Meaning it's usually placed in a spot where it wont do shit to warn drivers..

Dirt or gravel sucks. My road use to be dirt but luckily about 5 years ago they paved it. At the time I also had to park my car outside under the trees. Back then I probably washed my car 4+ times a week trying to keep it clean. Now I've got a paved road and a garage so the car stays fairly clean.

My skin crawls when I hear small stones and heavier particals hit the wheel wells and so forth..
When I ran overly sticky tires the effect was 1000x worse..Last edited by Smittro; 04-09-2011 at 03:24 AM. Reason: It's early give me a break..
