    Got rid of the vette.

Traded it for an 07 silverado HD crew cab 6.6L duramax 4x4.
tons of power, 6 speed automatic. warranty was almost up on the vette.
handles like a dream. not really. I dont really care about handling though. lots of power, it will get moving pretty good for its enormous size.

still got the el camino too.

I love the new gen trucks and it sounds like you got the loaded model.

Is it a 2500HD with the Duramax? Or is it the 3500?

Are you planning to tow with this bad boy? Should be able to tow a house or maybe an enclosed race trailer with all the fixings for the el camino?

Oh and you knew this was coming:

That must be some El Camino or must have some meaning/history to it. Must have been hard to part with the Vette.

I am not sure how many car shows/races there would be at Alaska but with this new rig you would have no problem tackling the Alaskan highway c/w mountain passes!

7.4l (BB 454). Around town, I got 11 and on the Hwy I got 13.

I towed my Camaro from Whidbey Island to Denver, doing 65-70 easily, and got a whoppin 9 MPG!!!

Turbo Diesel is the way to go!

Congrats and enjoy that fun truck!

Nice truck, I really want a 2500HD. Just a programmer with a few simple mods will wake that truck up a bit too. Somehow, I knew you wouldn't get a Cummins. How do diesels handle extreme cold? I thought diesel fuel turns into a gel at sub zero temperatures.

In alaska we had block heaters on all our trucks that we had to plug in at night. That and a good glow plug and you're good to go. We had some either hooked up to our fork lifts since we couldn't plug those in.

They are awesome! We have a Duramax dually/4 door/4x4 at my work with all types of work done to it. It will smoke the tires off from a dead stop and pull a 40 foot trailer with no problem. It's quiet and fast as hell! Awesome ride, unlike the Ford which beats the hell out of you on long-ass trips!

that 6.6 should be a real stump puller. Mod it and wake that thing up. Congrats on the truck. If I ever get a new truck it'll be along those same lines. My buddy has a ford with the 7.3L in it. It's a pulling monster. Like was mentioned above have you given any thought to the alaska winters? Diesels are much better made than they used to be and are way more forgiving in the cold but up there it's a totally different level of cold than down here. I guess worst case scenario is you let it idle for 6 months straight.
