Got rear-ended
So I left work yesterday, got on 95 south to come home, traffic was already heavy and it was still a little early for a monday, only 2:30 or so. A guy had gotten over from the HOV lane pretty quickly and moved in behind me. He was on my ass, slowly backed off, and I sped up a little because I just don't like people riding my bumper...
I notice the car in front of me slam on the brakes. I do the same while I pop my eyes up to look in my mirror, as he is still coming. In a split second, I look to my left as I turn the wheel, but there's no room, so I jerk it back, and I'm stuck. As I go to look back up... BAM! I got popped from the rear. It wasn't that bad, or it didn't feel like it atleast. I definately felt the back end go up in a forward motion a bit but whatever.
I go to pull over, his car doesn't appear to have any damage, and mine is just a bent license plate and a little nick on the top part of the bumper cover. I was stoked I know these cars are said to have a 5 star crash safety rating in the event of a rear end collision but DAMN! I got popped with him doing atleast 20, maybe 25. I take a closer inspection, nothing appears to be bent, out of place... just that little nick, and the rest of it wiped off with my fingers
The guy admitted he was looking over so he could make a lane change and that it was his fault. I could have told him to gimme a couple hundred dollars and we could forget about it. But I felt I did the right thing when I told him I didn't have the time to sit, and I don't think he needed the hassle on the jacked up insurance. Besides, I'm on high-risk as it is right now anyways, I didn't want the attention period. So we drove off and left it like it never happened...

I posted about a very similar experience. The rear bumpers appear to be very tough. I also was in a hurry and didn't exchange information and just read the memo above. No next time, please.

AKA you didn't have insurance. No one in their right mind that has insurance and wasn't at fault would let the other driver go. There's no hassle when he already admitted fault and i'm sure there was witnesses....plus you're pulled over already so WTF. If he hit you going 25 like you say there's a lot more damage under that bumper cover...because that's all it is a cover.

Well...hopefully there won't be any "snowball" effects after your incident.

look under the car at the rear frame rails and check how the hatch closes, possible rear body damage. just because you dont see any damage but a scratch doesnt mean there isnt any hidden damage that would mess your car up

FR44 baby, high-risk... aka the old SR22. Yeah, call me what you want, tell me I made bad decisions in my past for drinking and driving, whatever. Come back with WHATEVER you can think of... but you're wrong soooooo
I paid $4500 for the car, its got mods, and it's the DD beater
I expected some remarks like yours, to tell me I'm lying, or I made a bad call, etc.
As a matter of fact, I put my new factory rubber trans mount in today, and torqued down on the top TA mount bolt, and it seemed to alleviate any and all vibrations the car has. Also checked under the bumper.... everything is good to go. I'm sure that the bumper on the right corner will more than likely start to spiderweb over time, which I would only have to expect.
To some people on this board, their fbody is their pride and joy, inside, outside, and chassis/drivetrain wise. To others, it's a DD beater until they decide to either upgrade, or get another one to take the existing one off the road for a little while

DD "Beater" a F-Body is sooooooo wrong. To some people thats their dream car (Not mine) "BUT" to some it is. I just don't get it I can see DD'ing it but to not give a damn

they are the biggest Men I have ever seen. I
wouldn't want to fight them!
