Going to Vegas in Sept. Where to stay?
Goiong to Vegas in September for my friend's wedding. It's taking place at the Imperial Palace Hotel. Anyone know where I can stay that isn't too far from there that won't cost me a fortune?
I've never been there, will I need to rent a car or can I walk to pretty much anything I will need?
Also, besides gambling, anything I should definitely check out while I am there?'07 MAZDASPEED6 GT

I always get a cheap rental when in Vegas. The casinos look close together but they are so huge is is very deceiving.... My first time there i thought I could walk but something that looks like a couple of blocks away can be over a mile...
There is an overhead tram and taxi service but I found a rental car is cheaper than a bunch of cab rides, plus "old las vegas" is worth checking out while you are there and you want wheels for that.
Most parking is free if you get your parking ticket stamped at a casino window.
I usually stay at the Golden Nugget in Old Las Vegas because I can walk to convenience stores and the cappacino vendors on Freemont street are a good bet in the morning. Plus there are cheap buffets in that area.
The big strip casinos are generally higher priced unless you gamble a lot. If you do gamble, get a slot club card at the casino. They are usually good for something like half off on a buffet, or a discounted show, or sometimes a discount on the room rate.
There are much cheaper places to stay but las Vegas has some pretty hairy areas at night that look much better during the day so I do not recommend cheaping out unless you know what you are doing.

You can take a cab anywhere for pretty cheap. Also I'm not sure where the Imperial is but I have a few girl friends that live there I'll find out for you. You definitely need to go check out the dragstrip. It's a really nice place. How long can you stay?
Maybe we can make a WEST COAST LS1 MEET @ THE TRACK.......
There are a couple buffet's and restaurant you must check out! I'll post you some more details later after I find out where your wedding is.Don't be afraid of the bottle!!! Be afraid of your tune!!!

Stay off the strip, There are some nice hotels 1 block off the strip for nota. Not like you are going to be in the room that much anyway.

why not stay at the Imperial Palace? they are one of the cheaper hotels on the strip. I just recieved a mailing from them advertising rooms for $27 night. Also Hooter's hotel is within walking distance too and reasonably cheap.
Cheap is a relative term here... how much you looking to spend and and how much are you willing to sacrifice.
We were just there in Sept 07 for a few days and stayed a TI. I thought the room price was reasonable. We paid $150 a night for a suite with strip views. I drove out and used the car a little while we wee there, but if didn't have a car it would not be a big deal. You can get an all day ride ticket for the monorail that runs the whole strip. If you plan on drinking, you won't be driving anyway.
other than gambling you should check out a few shows or grab a drink and listen to music at any number of locations. There is a car exhibit in the Imperial Palace. Try the rides at the top of the Stratosphere.
As far as food i tried to stay away from the buffets (always turns into a competition to me). Plenty of fine eating establishments that are not buffet.

Oh yeah, I have stayed at Bally's. It was very nice-- I don't know if they made a misstake or not, But I paid $120 (one night) For a King size bed room, but they gave me a full suite.
Not sure if they were just hooking me up, or what. But I didn't complain.

the advertisement i have in front of me has dates through the end of july and the most expensive days are weekends at $97 a night.
a quick search on expedia (used labor day weekend, not sure what your dates are) and it looks a little pricier that weekend. although stratosphere is still 100 night, Circus Circus and Sahara are less.
Vegas rates can really vary by what day you are there, too bad you can't adjust your friend's wedding to the cheaper days!

Imperial Palace is a hole.
Hooter's will be changing theme in the future (not sure when but it has been sold and they will change eventually)
There are some nice hotels off the strip to the near East on Paradise road for example. A cab ride from off the strip might be cheaper than going up or down the strip. The main entrance to the Imperial Palace is right on the strip and people make it hard to get a car through.
Imperial Palace also has a car museum/car dealer/consignment area on I think the fifth floor of the parking garage. It costs money to go in but all you have to do is ask someone who works on the Casino floor for tickets and you will probably get them free. They usually have a bunch of nice old cars but don't look too close at the paint jobs...yikes.

Oh yeah, I stayed at the Luxor and the Stratosphere a time or two before we moved here. I liked the Luxor quite a bit but I loved the pool at the Stratosphere. It is on the 7th floor a believe and it isn't super deep yet it is HUGE. You get a great view of the valley from there.

I was just there the end of last month. I stayed at terribles hotel and casino. Its a block or two off the strip down by hard rock. It was all of $45 a night I was alittle leary when I booked it but was pleasently surprised when I got there. The rooms were clean, decent beds 42in plasma in the room. I also suggest getting a rental car, I almost did't and man am I glad I did. Terribles is not that far from the strip but if you walk from there and up and down the strip and back you will be tired as shit. I also drove out to hoover dam which is a must if you have time. Also went to freemount street which by no means is in walking distance from terribles. Also went out to red rock canyon which is simple amazing.

Well guys i just got back from vegas believe it or not, went out sunday morning and got back late wed. night. We stayed at Ballys, Rooms were covered with the trip. thier pool is under construction, but you can use the one on the roof of Paris next door. I also lost a 350 dollar camera to housekeeping there too so wouldnt advise that place. Right behind it is one of the best places i found to eat, Ellis Island... 16oz prime rib w/ fries and salad and green beans----10 bucks it was good too.
Another thing i noticed and started keeping track of--- everyone and their mom drives a mustang... i counted 43 on the strip, only 2 vettes, 3 camero's, 2 firebirds, and 2 GTO's, oh and a 2 vipers, one was a rental, and a lambo and a ferrari. Any guys on here from Vegas?
Stratousphere was kick ass, went on all the rides and got the pics of my retarded face. Seen the show Bitten, that was good, talk about hot chicks in no clothes... collected "cards" off the strip, i got a 4" thick deck, rode the monorail, rollercoaster at NY NY, got some t-shirts, drank a bit at margaritaville, plane ride sucked bein a bit hung over and not sleeping the night b4 and turbulence almost had to use the air sickness bags, thats all thats coming to me at the moment...

There's quite a few Camaros around... Probably not so much on the strip.
