    geothermal Power

Over the past few weeks i have been thinking about a cheaper way to heat my house. I have electric baseboard and with the electric costs going up i figured it's good time to change. I thought about everything from pellet, wood, coal stoves and gas heat. I don't have AC and the summers can get pretty hot around here, so going with the geothermal would kill 2 birds with one stone. I think i should be able to get everything done for around 10k to 12k and that should pay for itself in 7 to 10 years. When i do sell the house the geothermal unit would also be a big selling point. Does anybody here have a geothermal heat pump or install them?

I had briefly considered the same -- we ended up replacing our furnace to the tune of about $5,000 two years ago. Subscribed to see what info gets posted.

It will cost 4 grand just to have them tear your entire yard up and bury to the tubing. And depending how they do it, it can be more expensive. Do you have a large yard where they can lay it all out on a horizontal plane? If not, they have to dig really deep and stack it vertically.
