1.98 in several places here in Indy, Brownsburg (5 miles west) making headlines one place had been 1.86-1.89 all week. For 87 octane of course.

Sub $2 89 octane and sub $3 diesel SW of Dallas/Ft. Worth.

    They're practically giving it away!

Sure seems like it eh? I'm thinking about going for a drive in Brown County today, nice curvey hilly roads there. Burn up a tank, what the hell. I think I just convinced myself to do it! Anybody want to meet in Story, IN for a beer this afternoon?

Can someone tell me WHY this is happening? If it can go down, it can go back up without explanation...

I paid 2.07 yesterday. I almost started humping the gas pump when $45 fill my truck! It's 1.98 in some areas around Columbus.

Well when a few weeks ago when that last hurricane hit they also said they will stop buying gas from Saudi Arabia. Meaning we not going to pay over 100 bucks a barrel. And both of the new president candidates want to start having more drilling done within 50 miles of our border. Last time I checked we are paying like 65 a barrel. I guess gas is still expensive here, I am still paying 2.2X a gallon.

I have my own theory ...The economy.

When money was flowing like beer at a frat house, lot's of demand for fuel to support the building boom.

When the bubble burst, the trickle down effect saw demand drop because less building taking place.

We will probably see a slow rise in fuel prices while the recovery takes place.

I can't keep up with the falling price. It was 1.95 a lot of places this morning when I went on the Saturday morning donut run.

I disagree. $2 a gallon for gas is cheap. I was paying 1.39 for 89 octane way back in 1980, it was hard to scrounge up $5 for gas then for an evening of cruising. If it kept up with inflation, it would be around $4.10 a gallon, so this is why I say $2 a gallon is cheap.

Looks like even that won't help McCain. I would be glad to not have a vice president who believes the earth is only 6,000 or so years old anyway. I'll probably vote Libertarian.

the dollar has gained some ground against other currencies over the past few weeks which has made it a better market for us to buy oil in since oil is traded on the dollar. also with the global and national economies in recession there is less oil being used, at least stateside, and so part of it is that demand is coming down so they are charging less. if demand increases so will price again. there are other factors primarily about the economy but those are some of the big ones.

This is a zoomable map, right down to individual gas stations, though not all of them are shown.

    It's updated regularly.

Well, the Shell V-Power 93 octane was 2.23 this morning, so I filled the tank and went for a drive. Drove 145 miles, came back to Shell to refill the tank, the price had dropped to 2.17. Still falling! I drove 145 miles, got 22.3 MPG on some hard driving. Drove some nice curving roads down to Story IN this afternoon to take in some fall colors and enjoy the 70 sunshiney day.

Yea I just filled up this evening for $1.99 a gallon for 87!!!!!!!! I couldn't belive it, but I agree also, this is cheap considering the wage & price of gas 4-5 years ago was this, & I sure wasn't making what I am now!
