Gas prices are NOT that high.
So quit bitching. Factoring for inflation they are about the same.
This old timer I was talking to told me he could buy a gallon of gas for 20 cents back in 1940. for a silver dollar, he could get 5 gallons of gas. now gas is 3 dollars a gallon. And the silver dollar is 15 bucks.
however:
One silver dollar still buys 5 gallons of gas. the price of gas in relation to actual money hasnt changed.
its not the price of gas going up, its the value of your worthless dollars becoming even more worthless. how does it feel to know that the almighty dollar is a fantasy magical creation, that has lost 90 percent of its purchasing power since 1913?
it makes me laugh. like how I laugh at a dog attacking the water coming out of the hose, when it should be the attacking the human holding the hose.

Because you have personal issues with me that stem from I know not where. Probably because I dont like Bush, and you are emotionally invested in him, and think that anyone who doesnt like him is satan.

Mod no one said anything about bush, you do not even know who i voted for. My issue is with your post coming off as you acting like you know everything about the machine and we are just the monkeys you try to teach how it works.
Maybe if you did not come out so harsh by refering to all of us as dogs fighting the water hose you would get some respect and not seen as a jerk?

While I agree about the worth of $1.00 one thing I don't think people realize is... the oil companies are increasing inflation for one... Anyone know what happens when inflation increases? The value of the American dollar goes down... and 2.. gas prices go up... and pay wages remain the same if not go down.
Anyone care to compare how much it costs them to fill their tanks full?
I pay $68 that's with regular gas, and I run octane boost because I can't afford higher octane.
2 years ago it would have cost me $35.
I even remember when gas prices where $.99/gallon and I'm not even that fuckin old... that was when I was a junior in highschool barely 9 years ago.
I found a receipt for gas that was purchased about 2 years ago $1.45/gallon.
what's the price now? here where I am it's $2.90/gallon for regular, obviously in most of our cars we can not run that... premium is $3.20gallon and in the city omg... $3.70/gallon
I hear excuses like oh it's cause we had a mild winter... BS... what about southern states whom have no winters... that's no excuse for florida, texas, or arizona... and Last time I checked we are not at war... so what's the excuse this time?Last edited by DisCrete; 05-30-2006 at 11:02 PM.

An oil company cant increase inflation, only a government in command of a printing press.

Inflation is measured many different ways. One way is the CPI. Oil companies do contribute to this as many petroleum based products and services are components of the CPI.
