The ram air hood isn't functional. That's the GT1 or GT SC hood, if I recall. The grilles are the ram air ducts. I think you can make the hood scoops functional though. The GTP motor should fit as the 3400 is the same size, just a tad taller with the blower. They were nice cars, but the GAGT couldn't be had with a manual trans, which was a deal breaker for me.

That's a cool swap. I always wanted to put an L67 into an older Z24 (88-92.)

    So did I.

My first car was a blue/blue 87 Z24. 2.8 auto with digital gauges. Got it my senior year of high school as a graduation gift from my folks. Loved that car dearly.

If its a ram air grand am it should have the 3800 no supercharged already in it.

I am sorry but this swap just doesnt make sense. Why mod a grand am and if you do why put a gtp engine in it. Just buy an entire GTP lol.

The grilles are the actual ram air inlets. There are ducts behind the grilles which direct cold air into the airbox. I think the rubber gaskets in the hood are removeable. I cannot remember at the moment as I have not worked on GAs in quite some time.

Thats crazy because the 2001 impala 3400 was rated at 180hp with no ram air. Not that ram air really does anything.

A early 2000s grand am gt weighs 3100-3200lbs. a early 2000s gtp weighs 3300-3400lbs. Put the 3800 with a supercharger on it in the grand am it there weigh difference will probably be 100lbs.

I stand corrected. The optional hood is the SC/T designation.
