Forum misspelling annoyances
Let me start by saying, I myself didn't graduate high school. I dropped out and received my G.E.D. instead of going through the agony of another year of High School.
So, no I don't consider myself a master of the English language and my grades were abysmal in school for English. But you know, I do have some pride in not being a complete dumb ass, and knowing how to actually spell correctly for the most part, my punctuation and sentence structure is rarely perfect or correct but that's not what this is about.
All too often I see easy, every day words used wrong, and/or spelled wrong and I'm not talking about innocent typos, so here is a guide that I made to maybe help some of those who were too stupid or lazy to pay attention in ELEMENTARY school, here goes:
1st up
Loose-- This is the opposite of "tight". NOT the opposite of "win"
It doesn't make much sense to say "I think I'm going to LOOSE the race" now does it?
Lose-- This means you didn't win and LOST, or even "did you lose your brain??"
My favorite one
Your-- This word used here "I don't like your face." "your mom is a whore". NOT "your a complete idiot"
You're --short for YOU ARE, "you're" big difference see? "you're a complete idiot" there that's much better.
Break --Means to cause failure of. Like "I'm going to break your face" NOT "hay your breaks on yur car is bad"
Brake --As in reference to automotive brakes etc.
Allot -- As in, Allotment Allotting, to distribute, dole out etc..
A lot --It's two words, as in "that idiot misspells words a lot"
There --As opposed to Here, "Put that over there" NOT "there all a bunch of fuck sticks"
They're --Short for THEY ARE.
Their --Possessive of the word They. "Their car is a piece of shit"
Hear -- To listen
Here -- "Come here so I can punch you in the face"
Since -- "Since you're an idiot, I'll make fun of you"
Sense -- "You don't make any sense when you type"
and I've seen this one a lot lately for some reason.
For sale -- Why do people say "for sell"??? wtf if you're selling something, it's FOR SALE.
Sell --It's not "I'm going to sale this car" "I'm going to sell this car. Yes, It's FOR SALE"
That's about all I can think of right now, add some if you think of any.
Why does this annoy me? I don't know...it just does.
Have some pride in yourself, you took the time to type out your thoughts on something and post for others to read, don't look like an Idiot, the content of your post might be evidence enough without the misspellings.
(waits for the posts purposely misspelled in an attempt to be clever or funny, or the "who cares?" posts. you did when you clicked on the thread and it must of struck a nerve :P )Last edited by Chaos; 01-22-2008 at 05:03 PM.

Also I wanna throw out there.... why tell everyone you dropped out of high school? That has nothing to do with being annoyed with "typos"

It bothers the hell out of me as well. It boggles my mind when I see people misspell words like the ones you listed. It must have been really hard to pass... let's see here... the third grade when you can't even figure out where to put a fucking apostrophe.
Whenever my girlfriend sends me an instant message or a text message, it always uses perfect spelling and grammar, because before when she sent things like "lol cul8r ttyl," I would just make fun of her for it the entire conversation.
Grammar -- Yes, you do need to work on your "grammer"
Speaking of raping the English language, I was sitting at a desk last semester at my university and noticed something had been written on the desk. Now let me remind you, this is at a university, where you actually have to move on beyond the brain function of a third trimester fetus to be admitted. I guess the stupid bus smashed dick-first into that classroom, because some one couldn't figure out how to spell "World," and had to write out their two best guesses to make the momentous decision between "WOLRD" and "WROLD." I'm not even kidding. Thousands of dollars a year and I'm stuck with the siblings of aborted babies.

I honestly think even if you didn't do all that good in school, you could/would pick up on it by reading books and taking note of how sentences are constructed ect

How so? this thread is about miss used every day words. NOT about a simple typo, which I covered. And the exact reason why I included that was I knew someone would come along and try to pick any tiny little problem of the entire first post. Congrats you won that honor.
