Football question
Hey i was wondering, in a college or NFL football game who actually calls each play that is done? Is it up to the quarterback or does the coach decide and then tell him through some helmet headset?

its actually the offense of cordinator i beleive and the coach might throw a call in every once and awhile... college they have back up qb's giving signals to the QB playing some which are fakes and which they have head sets and get it from the offensive cordinator.... its not always the same for every team but thats usually what they do.
defense they just have a coach on the side lines giving usually a linebacker a play to call in the huddle

Well...usually in college, the offensive coordinator calls all the plays from the booth. He sends them via headset to the sideline where a backup qb usually relays them to the quarterback or to a person going onto the field. Most times, college teams have more than 1 person signaling the qb. This is to confuse the other team and make sure they don't know what play they're running. Now in the NFL it is becoming more common to have the qb call the play. This is mainly because of Peyton Manning. They give him 3 plays and he reads the defense and calls the play. Some colleges are doing this now, for instance Boston College with qb Matt Ryan.

All QB's in the NFL have headsets. If you watch, you'll see an ugly ass green sticker on the back of the QB's helmets. Ugly ass green stickers mean the helmets have headsets, which the offesnvie coordinator uses to send the QB plays.
All NFL Quarterbacks and most College QB's do this. College QB's don't need an ugly ass sticker, though, because apparently college refs aren't retards.
