    football & baseball card prices

i'm curious if anyone can help me get some figures on prices that one might expect from some baseball and football cards. granted they used to be worth a lot more...which is why i'm not too interested in going out and getting the latest beckett issues to figure out prices.

two of the cards i'm most interested in finding prices for are a 1997 pro line jake plummer autographed rookie card (in his arizona state uniform) and an ameritech phone card handed out at the robin yount tribute day game when robin yount's #19 jersey was retired.

i've looked around online and haven't been able to find much of anything.

    Bingo.

Most cards sell for less than half of what Beckett shows for them anyways.
I have a handful of stuff from when I was in high school. I will just keep them at this point. Couple that might be worth something someday, but probably not.

Even before egay, when packs of cards started exceeding $20/pack, the decline began. I have tons of cards, they aren't worth shit now days.

I remember when I was a kid getting baseball/basketball cards. Then I remember throwing away two shoe box's full.

    Same boat I'm in.

I have a Nolan Ryan rookie, a few Mickey Mantel's, probably all worth $20 if I'm lucky. That's if I pay to get them certified for their condition. Otherwise, they're probably only worth (meaning what people are willing to pay for them) $5 all together.

Guess it all depends on how bad you want it. Look into if they had the condition certified, it means it's in good condition.

Mass production took the value out of pretty much everything. Between that and the economy crash nothing collectible is selling for much unless its actually extremely rare.

Any cards after the early 80's aren't worth shit because of mass production. I have a lot of cards from the 50's to the 80's but wouldn't sell them because I wouldn't get shit for them.... Bottom line they're only worth what somebody will pay for them and that isn't much. Don't waste your time looking them up to see how much they're worth.

    Same boat I'm in

I just went through all my cards and have about 400 or so Jordans and Some Willie Mays/Hank Aaron cards and alot of others (Probably about 10,XXX cards) I would sell them in a instant for $1000, book value is more like $10K +

well i've got a TON of baseball and football cards at my parents house in sleeved binders. and then i've got a few that were hard to come by when they were made and those are in individual hard sleeves in my safe. autographed cards, rarer series cards, special edition reprints, etc. guess i'll just hang onto them...sounds like i missed the boat for selling about a decade ago.
