Truth. I have never been a fan of drive-by-wire.

A funny side story, while we're on the topic. My daily driver, is a 1985 Toyota Pickup....and I emailed toyota customer service to see if their had been any issues with my truck in the past or any recalls....and they wrote me back "Even though we have had recalls on gas pedals on the newer car. We are happy to inform you that their are no recalls on your truck at this time". Or something of that nature LOL.....

now the media is going to ruin sales for dodge, the media is evil... because people are so easily influenced these days, like god dam sheep

the media can blow things totally out of proportion, because it sells for them, and people eat it up

    pathetic

They can neuter throttle inputs to help mileage ratings. Takes so long to respond when you really need power as well. Scary shit

The only thing that needs to be between a petal and the throttle is a cable.

Or a throttle rod if you go far enough back, that's even better

Cable nothing! They can stick. My 67 has a mechanical linkage. Now there's reliability!

I've had a few cables snap myself After the second time, I kept a spare in my trunk

    But, cheap and easy fix.

Both of the Chargers I owned had a cable throttle. The 66's snapped on me (actually they had a lead ball swaged onto the end of the cable and the cable pulled thru) as I was cruising southbound on the 405 around Laguna Beach. Of course I was in the fast lane. I put the tranny into neutral and managed to get across all 5 lanes of traffic and to an offramp. I got lucky and had a green light and had enough steam to turn right and into a 7-11 (I think - a convenience store at any rate) and parked the car. Mind you this was back in the 80's so no cell phone. I got some change, called a friend and he graciously brought me another cable (he was big into Mopars and had beaucoup parts).

Easy fix yes, except when you're 60 miles away from home. Like you I carried a spare after that.

I really should give major props to my (at the time) GF (later wife then x-wife) for hanging out the passenger window getting cars to let me get over while the car was still rolling (cable broke when I was going around 80 so it rolled quite a ways). The off ramp was downhill also.

    But yeah, lucky nonetheless...

If a cable breaks you could always rig a bungy cord throttle. Isnt Mercedes experimenting with brake/steer by wire?

Being that luxury car makers are often the innovaters and others follow after, screw future new cars. I suppose this will allow for full computer nanny control of the car

I'm not surprised there's been a huge surging/stalling problem with the hemi's...trucks and cars.

I've heard hemi-lag is like flogging a dead horse for a second. We had an '03 4.7 ram, it gave you what very little it had the second you touched the throttle
